General Questions

Can I use DirectLink in a multi-user environment?
Yes. DirectLink is fully networkable. The database only is installed on the network server. Each user must have the DirectLink application on their workstation.
Can FedEx DirectLink accommodate multiple account numbers?
FedEx DirectLink software shows all invoice data, whether to one account number or many. It can sort by account number if you have multiple accounts.
Can I get electronic funds transfer capability with FedEx DirectLink?
Yes. However, you must be set up for this feature by our Electronic Revenue Services analyst. The contact number to request EFT setup is shown in the About DirectLink window in the software. Once setup is complete, just check the EFT box on the remit window and enter the funds transfer resolution date.
If I were set up as a FedEx DirectLink EFT customer, would I be able to pay by check later?
If you were set up for EFT but needed to remit by check, you would simply enter the check or reference number in the remit window. The EFT check box must be selected and a resolution date entered if you are remitting by electronic funds transfer. The default is to send a paper check.
If I were to export data from the FedEx DirectLink program to a spreadsheet, could I pay from the spreadsheet?
No. You must schedule the invoices for payment and transmit a remittance advice from the application itself. Otherwise, the invoice balances would never be reduced to zero and would remain in balance-due status.
If I export data to a spreadsheet, how would I get the data back into the FedEx DirectLink program?
Certain fields from an invoice or shipment can be exported by selecting them from a list and copying them over into spreadsheet. Once the export is processed, however, the original invoice data file remains within the FedEx DirectLink program, so there is no need to "move it back."
Why would I need to export data if FedEx DirectLink is able to store the original shipment and invoice information?
The Export feature exists so you can more easily interface with your own internal systems, e.g., Accounts Payable. This feature enables you to build reports, which can be stored outside of the FedEx DirectLink program and then shared by other departments within your company.
