General Questions

Where can I submit a request for additional functionality or provide feedback relative to my automated shipping solution?
FedEx is committed to delivering quality service to our customers. We would like to hear from you regarding your experience with us. Listening to our customers is a high priority at FedEx. Can I mark up shipping charges for different service levels and special services?
Yes, you can choose a fixed charge or percentage of shipping charges and surcharges to mark up individual shipments. You can also choose shipping defaults to apply a fixed charge or percentage markup to your domestic and international shipments. And you can choose separate defaults for FedEx Express and FedEx Ground shipments. However, you cannot apply special markups for individual service levels or special services using shipping defaults.
How do I print a shipping receipt?
You can print a shipping receipt by customizing and printing the validator label for domestic and international shipments. If you are using doc-tab labels, you can customize the doc-tab portion of the label.


When you customize the validator label, select the shipping information you want printed on the label on the right side of the screen. Then place the information where you want it printed on the Label Preview, or left side, of the screen. Also create the field descriptions you want printed on the label and place the descriptions where you want them to appear.


  1. Select Validator from the Customize menu at the top of the screen.
  2. Choose FedEx Express or FedEx Ground shipments.
  3. Check Print Second Label.
  4. Select Domestic or International shipments.
  5. For MPS Shipments, choose:
    • Print Totals Slips Only to print only one validator label for the shipment.
    • Print Package Slips to print labels for each package.
    • Print Package Slips and Totals Slips to print individual labels and a totals label.
  6. Choose the label format you are using.
  7. From the Field Chooser list, select a field, such as Tracking Number, to print on the label and click Add to Label. The field moves to the top of the Label Preview so you can move it where you want it to appear on the label.
  8. Click the New button below the Field Chooser list and enter a description of the field you added to the label, for example, Trk#. Click the Add to Label button and move the description where you want it printed on the label.
  9. Continue adding the fields and descriptions you want printed on the label and click OK.
How do I know that FedEx is protecting the information about my shipments that I'm transferring electronically?

How do I send an email message when I ship a package? Can I receive a message when my package is delivered?
With FedEx Ship Manager, you can automatically send an email message with your FedEx Express and FedEx Ground shipments. And you can receive an email message when your FedEx Express shipments are delivered.


  1. To send an email when you ship a package, click the Options tab on the shipping screen. Enter the email ID(s) in the FedEx ShipAlert section of the screen, and check the Shipment Notification box.
  2. To receive an email message when the shipment is delivered, enter your email ID on the Options screen, and check the Delivery Notification box. This option is available for FedEx Express shipments only.
Is there a faster way to enter my package dimensions?
If you ship using your own packaging, be sure to add the dimensions to your Dimensions database. Then when using your own packaging, you can simply select the package from the Size list to fill in the dimensions for you.

To add dimensions:
  1. Select Dimensions from the Customize menu at the top of the screen.
  2. Click the Add button.
  3. Assign a Size Code and enter the dimensions of each package, then click OK.
Can I change the ship date?
Yes, you can change the ship date up to 10 days from now. To change the ship date, click on the calendar button to the right of the Ship date. Then select a future ship date up to 10 days ahead. When you finish processing future shipments, change the Ship date back to today's date.
My reports are printing on the label printer. How do I print them on the report printer instead?
Check your Form Settings as follows:
  1. Select Forms from the Customize menu at the top of the screen.
  2. Select Reports on the Form Settings screen.
  3. Click the Change button
  4. Select your report printer, such as IBM 2380 Plus. Click OK.
Can I print online help topics on my printer?
Yes. Here's all you do:
  1. Display the help topic you want to print by double-clicking the Help button at the top of the screen.
  2. Double-click on the topic from the Contents page.
  3. Click the Print button at the top of the Help window.
  4. Select Report Printer from the Printer choice list.
How do I obtain a FedEx Express Signature Release Number?
Signature Release authorizes FedEx to deliver a FedEx Express U.S. domestic package without obtaining a signature. To select Signature Release, your sender code must include your FedEx Express Signature Release Number.

To obtain a FedEx Express Signature Release Number, please ask your FedEx Express courier for the paperwork you'll need, or call 1.800.Go.FedEx® (1.800.463.3339). Return the completed form to your courier.
How do I add my FedEx Express Signature Release Number to FedEx Ship Manager?
You'll want to add this number to the Sender database.

To update your Sender database:
  1. Select Sender from the Databases menu at the top of the screen.
  2. Select your sender code and click the Update button.
  3. Enter your FedEx Express Signature Release Number. Click OK.
The recipient did not receive my Shipping Notification message. Why?
It could be that some information was missing. To send a shipping notification, you must check the Shipper Notification box and provide the email ID or fax number of the person who will receive your message. Here are the steps to follow:
  1. When you ship your package, complete the recipient information and package information as usual. Then click the Optional tab or the Special Services button.
  2. From the Optional screen, check the Shipper Notification box. Note: If you select a Constant Preference for Shipper Notification, the checkmark automatically appears.
  3. If there is a Recipient Code and an email ID or fax number for the person you are shipping to, the email ID or fax number displays below the Shipper Notification box. If not, enter the email ID or fax number. When you complete the shipment, FedEx Ship Manager asks if you want to update the recipient code. Click Yes to add the email ID or fax number to the Recipient database.



IMPORTANT: Once you add an email ID or fax number to your Recipient database, this information fills in automatically when you send the recipient a shipping notification.
