General Questions
To find a quick answer to one of the Frequently Asked Questions listed below, click on that question. For other, more specific questions about ways to ship, email us.
FedEx Express lets you choose from several different services so you can pick the delivery time that fits your degree of urgency. It's for shippers with high-value or time-critical shipments who need to plan on fast delivery on a specific day, by a specific time. FedEx Ground service is a cost-effective solution for routine shipments that don't need the speed of express shipping. You receive reliable delivery for packages up to 150 lbs., with the precise date of delivery based on distance from origin to destination.
Yes! Specifically, you can request a refund or credit of your transportation charges if your FedEx Ground shipments within the continental US don't arrive by the end of the scheduled delivery day, as published on this web site.
It's FedEx SameDay, which is available for urgent or emergency shipments 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. It includes courier pickup, proactive tracking and delivery notification and can be requested by calling 1.800.GoFedEx 1.800.463.3339. The international counterpart is FedEx International Next Flight., which can be requested by calling 1.800.974.7333.
Recognizing your deadlines can vary day to day, FedEx provides three delivery choices: FedEx First Overnight by 8 am, FedEx Priority Overnight by 10:30 am, and FedEx Standard Overnight by 3 pm. The latter is a cost-effective choice if you can wait for afternoon delivery.
You would choose the FedEx Express services (FedEx 2-Day and our 3-day FedEx Express Saver) when you need to count on delivery on a specific day and by a specific time of day, no matter where in the country you are shipping to. FedEx Ground service delivery times are based on distance. It could take your ground shipment one day or five days to reach its destination (longer if it's Alaska or Hawaii), depending on where your recipient is located. Choose FedEx Ground when you want reliable delivery but timing is not as critical.

FedEx Express service covers every address in the US, including residential addresses. There's no need to mark anything special on your shipping label. On the other hand, FedEx Ground service is primarily business-to-business. If you want low-cost ground delivery with a money-back guarantee, use FedEx Home Delivery, which is dedicated solely to residential delivery.
Yes, but to differing degrees. FedEx Express has a fleet that circles the globe every day to deliver to more than 210 countries. By contrast, FedEx Ground specializes in North America, with an extensive, well-established network in Canada and Puerto Rico.
FedEx gives you flexibility to match the right service to your speed-to-market needs. Our premier service, FedEx International Priority, gives you superior reliability and speed (typically one, two or three business days) to points throughout the world. When you can afford a few extra days in transit, choose FedEx International Economy.
The FedEx Express fleet consists of 647 aircraft - which means lots of tonnage to handle your global air-freight needs. Two express services are designed for pieces (pallets) up to 2,200 lbs.: FedEx International Priority Freight, with delivery in one, two or three business days, and FedEx International Economy Freight, with delivery within five business days.
Our air-cargo services, known as FedEx International Express Freight (IXF) and FedEx International Airport-to-Airport, are separate from our express and ground service. These are airport-to-airport services with their own air waybill and booking procedures. And, unlike FedEx International Priority Freight and FedEx International Economy Freight, they do not offer a money-back guarantee, customs clearance, pickup or delivery.

Before March 1, 2001, you needed two separate account numbers to ship with FedEx Express and FedEx Ground. Now, you can use one account number, which is the one we communicated to you in our mailing.
Yes, please use the nine-digit account number that we've communicated to you. It will help us serve you better.
Our customers benefit from our integrating certain aspects of our FedEx Express and FedEx Ground operations, such as Customer Support, invoicing, customer information databases, etc. A single account number helps facilitate this process for both customers and FedEx.
No. You don't have to order new FedEx Ground barcode labels. Simply continue to use and reorder labels as you currently do.
Yes, enter the nine-digit account number there.

Your nine-digit number is what we need, regardless of how you enter it. You can use the blocks for the first seven digits of your single account number and write the last two digits after the blocks. Or you can utilize the space allocated for the seven digits and enter your entire nine-digit number there.
Please continue to use your current seven-digit number for FedEx Ground shipping on your automated shipping device. We will notify you when to make the change.
It's not possible for us to communicate to everyone who has your account number. So we'd certainly appreciate it if you would notify all of your vendors about this change.
Correct. You have to use the account number indicated in the letter you received whether that's online or over the phone. If you have a FedEx automated shipping device, you'll continue to use your previous seven-digit number. We'll contact you with the date when you need to enter the account number indicated in the letter you received.
We matched your FedEx Ground account to the FedEx Express account with current shipping activity at the same address.
