Shipping Hazardous Materials With FedEx Ground

New Requirements

Effective Oct. 1, 2010, FedEx Ground® and FedEx Freight® hazardous materials shipments, as well as FedEx Express® dangerous goods shipments, are required to comply with the new U.S. Department of Transportation Emergency Response Requirements (49 CFR Part 172.201, Part 172.604) for hazardous materials shipping.

  • Migrate to FedEx Ship Manager® at fedex.com or another FedEx electronic shipping solution by January 2011, after which manual forms will no longer be accepted.
  • Based on the solution you switch to, order the new forms — the OP-900LG for use with dot matrix printers; the OP-900LL for use with laser printers.
  • FedEx Ship Manager at fedex.com
  • The field for entering the required emergency response information provider name and phone number is now available on the tool.
  • Order the new version of the OP-900LL forms for laser printers.
  • FedEx Ship Manager® Software
  • Upgrade to FedEx Ship Manager Software version 2467. Go to fedex.com/us/software/downloads.
  • Order the OP-900LG for use with dot matrix printers; order the OP-900LL for use with laser printers.

    FedEx Web Services, FedEx Ship Manager® API, FedEX Ship Manager® DirectUpgrade to the August 2010 FedEx Web Services release and use version 9 of the shipping WSDL. Go to fedex.com/us/developer.

  • Order the OP-900LG for use with dot matrix printers; order the OP-900LL for use with laser printers.
  • If you’re using FedEx Ship Manager API or FedEx Ship Manager Direct, migrate to the August 2010 FedEx Web Services release. Due to these solutions’ upcoming retirement in 2012, they will not be compliant with the new requirements.

    FedEx Ship Manager® ServerUpgrade to FedEx Ship Manager Server version 10.6.1 to generate your hazardous materials shipping documentation and order the new forms — the OP-900LG for dot matrix printers; the OP-900LL for laser printers.

    As of Oct. 1, 2010, FedEx Ship Manager Server version 10.6.1 will be the only version of FedEX Ship Manager Server that will ensure you are compliant with the new requirements.
