Printer-Friendly Team FedEx Continues to Roll


FedEx competitors showed off their safe-driving skills over Father’s Day weekend – and earned nearly 30 top-three finishes at four state TDCs. Eight more drivers are headed to the NTDC in Pittsburgh in August, bringing the current tally of state champs to 87.

Florida 
A trio of FedEx drivers earned berths at the NTDC with wins at the Sunshine State’s TDC. Brian Hilligoss (FedEx Express, Lakeland) captured the top spot in the Step Van class, while Neil Ramlochan (FedEx Ground contractor, Orlando) won the Twins title and Greg Sams (FedEx National LTL, Ocala) earned first place in 3-Axle.

Other top finishers at the Florida TDC included:

  • Ricky Gonsales (FedEx National LTL, Miami): second, 4-Axle
  • Brian Kane (FedEx Express, Longwood): second, Step Van
  • Tony Office (FedEx Ground contractor, Tampa): second, Straight Truck
  • Ricky Albritton (FedEx Express, Melbourne): third, Step Van
  • David Erickson (FedEx Ground contractor, Ocala): third, Straight Truck
  • Jerry Keaton (FedEx National LTL, Jacksonville): third, 4-Axle and Best Written Exam
  • Red McKee (FedEx National LTL, Orlando): third, 3-Axle
  • Eddie Pennington (FedEx National LTL, Jacksonville): third, Twins

In addition, FedEx National LTL finished second in the team competition.

Oregon
In the Beaver State, Dan Shamrell (FedEx Freight, Portland) drove home with his ninth state title with a win in the 3-Axle class. He also posted the best score in the Pre-Trip Inspection and earned the Grand Champion crown. Dan was the National 3-Axle Champion in 2006.

Also returning to the winners’ circle was Nick Paradiso (FedEx Ground contractor’s driver, Portland), who finished atop the Step Van class for the second straight year. Chris Outen (FedEx Freight, Portland) also earned a trip to the NTDC by winning the Twins title.

Also finishing among the top three in their respective classes were:

  • Brent Kellum (FedEx Freight, Roseburg): second, 4-Axle
  • Jerry Lambert (FedEx Freight, Portland): second, Twins
  • Jason Morier (FedEx Freight, Salem): second, Step Van
  • Mark Dietsche (FedEx Freight, Salem): third, Straight Truck
  • Jonathan Holman (FedEx Express, Corvallis): third, Step Van

Kansas
Don Logan (FedEx Freight, Topeka) became a three-time Sunflower State champ by winning the 3-Axle class. He also earned the Grand Champion trophy and posted the best mark on the Written Exam.

 Four other FedEx Freight drivers earned top-three finishes:

  • Troy Lape (Kansas City): second, Tank Truck
  • Floyd McIlroy (Goodland): second, Straight Truck
  • Jason Taylor (Wichita): second, 3-Axle
  • Jeff Thompson (Kansas City): third, Twins

In addition, FedEx Freight captured the team trophy for the third consecutive year.

Rhode Island
In the Ocean State, Ron Desorcy (FedEx Ground contractor, Providence) earned the top spot in the Step Van class for his second state title. Steve Migneault (FedEx Freight, Providence) finished second in Twins, while Michael Santamaria (FedEx Express, Warwick) was second in 3-Axle.

There are three more TDC events on the schedule for the weekend of June 26-28: (Massachusetts, Michigan and Pennsylvania) before the 2009 season wraps up July 10-11 in Iowa and New Jersey. Best of luck to all of the Team FedEx competitors!
