Printer-Friendly June 27, 2011 - 116 FedEx Competitors Packing for Orlando
As the 2011 TDC season came to an end during the weekend of June 24-25, 10 additional FedEx drivers earned berths at the NTDC in August – joining the 106 other competitors across the country who have already qualified for the event in Orlando.
Michigan
Mark Duensing, a driver for FedEx Freight based in Toledo, Ohio, not only earned the top spot in the Twins class, but he also took home the Grand Champion title.
Jim Fisher, also a FedEx Freight driver in Toledo, won the 5-Axle Sleeper class for his fifth state title. This win earned Jim a place on the elite FedEx Aces team.
Doug Davidson, a driver for FedEx Ground contractor Air Dale Express Inc. in Saginaw, won the Step Van class and was also named Rookie of the Year.
Fremont-based FedEx Freight driver John Clouser earned the title in the 3-Axle class.
Additional top finishers in the Wolverine State were:
- North Grand Rapids-based FedEx Freight drivers Ron Metternick and Michael Wolf posted second-place finishes in the Flatbed and Straight Truck classes, respectively.
- Rick Bailey (FedEx Freight, Warren) was second in 4-Axle.
- Dan Tedford, a driver for FedEx Ground contractor CDS Transport Inc. in Saginaw, took third place in Step Van.
New Jersey
Lester Beben, a driver for FedEx Freight based in South Brunswick, won the top spot in the 5-Axle Sleeper class for his third state title and also earned the Grand Champion award.
David Font, a Moonachie-based driver for FedEx Express, won the Step Van class for the second straight year.
FedEx Freight driver Jim Erickson (Cinnaminson) attained first place in the 5-Axle class.
Other top finishers included:
- Thomas Bass (FedEx Freight, Vineland); second, Tank Truck
- Sharon Bass (FedEx Express, Port Elizabeth); third, 3-Axle
- Bart Masciulli (FedEx Express, Mount Laurel); third, Step Van.
- Nick Ciardiello (FedEx Ground contractor, NC Enterprises Inc., Woodbridge); third, Straight Truck
- Louis DelRosso (FedEx Ground contractor, C.A.L. Services Inc., Woodbridge); third, 4-Axle
Arkansas
In the Natural State, five FedEx competitors finished among the top three in their respective classes.
Robin Sams, a driver for FedEx Freight domiciled in Texarkana, earned first place in the 3-Axle class. He also earned the Grand Champion title and posted the best score in the pre-trip inspection portion of the competition.
Paul Roe, a driver for FedEx Ground contractor Crossno Parcel Service, Inc. based in Fort Smith, won the Step Van class.
FedEx Freight driver Larry Rhein (Harrison) finished second in the Twins class.
Casey Faulkner, a driver for FedEx Home Delivery contractor Groundhogz Logistics, Inc. (Jonesboro), and FedEx Freight driver Robert Kitelinger (Little Rock) posted third-place finishes in the Step Van and 4-Axle classes, respectively.
Washington
One more competitor is on his way to Orlando after picking up a title in the Evergreen State. Robert Hinds, owner of RR Ground Home, Inc. domiciled at the FedEx Ground station in Everett, captured the top spot in the Step Van class.
Joshua Jack, a driver for FedEx Express in Issaquah, finished second in Step Van and also posted the highest score in the pre-trip inspection portion of the competition.
FedEx Express driver Dayton Fedak (Issaquah) and FedEx Freight driver Shawn Keck (Pasco) posted third-place finishes in the Step Van and 5-Axle classes, respectively.
