Printer-Friendly Surcharges and Other Fees*
- The surcharge, fee and other changes below reflect current information as of Feb. 8, 2010, unless otherwise noted.

Effective Jan. 4, 2010
The following surcharge changes took effect Jan. 4, 2010, unless otherwise noted for FedEx Express®, FedEx Ground® and FedEx Home Delivery® services.
Address Correction
If a recipient's address on an airbill, air waybill or shipping label is incomplete or incorrect, we may attempt to find the correct address and complete the delivery.
- For FedEx Express U.S. package services, the fee increased from $10 per correction to $11 per correction.
- For FedEx Express Multiweight® shipments, the maximum charge increased from $70 to $77.
- For FedEx Express U.S. freight services, the fee increased from $50 per correction to $55 per correction.
- For FedEx Express international package and freight services, the fee increased from $10 per correction to $11 per correction.
- For FedEx Ground services, the fee increased from $8 per correction to $10 per correction. For shipments receiving FedEx Ground Multiweight® pricing, the fee is $10 per package up to a maximum of $35 per shipment.
- For FedEx Express U.S. import package and freight shipments, the Advancement Fee increased from the greater of 2% of the total duties and taxes advanced or $5 per shipment to the greater of 2% of the total duties and taxes advanced or $5.50 per shipment.
- For FedEx Ground Canada-to-U.S. shipments, the Disbursement Fee increased from the greater of 2% of the total duties and taxes advanced or $5 per shipment to the greater of 2% of the total duties and taxes advanced or $5.50 per shipment.
- For FedEx Express U.S. package shipments containing accessible dangerous goods, the surcharge increased from $65 to $70 per package. For shipments containing inaccessible dangerous goods, the surcharge increased from $32.50 to $35 per package.
- For FedEx Express U.S. freight shipments containing accessible dangerous goods, the surcharge increased from the greater of $70 per shipment or $0.55 per lb. to the greater of $76 per shipment or $0.60 per lb. For shipments containing inaccessible dangerous goods, the surcharge increased from the greater of $32.50 per shipment or $0.22 per lb. to the greater of $35.50 per shipment or $0.24 per lb.
- For FedEx Express international package shipments and international freight shipments containing accessible dangerous goods, the surcharge increased from the greater of $100 per shipment or $0.55 per lb. to the greater of $110 per shipment or $0.60 per lb. For shipments containing inaccessible dangerous goods, the surcharge increased from the greater of $50 per shipment or $0.28 per lb. to the greater of $55 per shipment or $0.30 per lb.
- FedEx Express declared-value charges increased from $0.65 to $0.70 per $100 of value. For U.S. package services, the charge applies to shipments valued in excess of $100, and the minimum charge increased from $1.95 to $2.10. For FedEx Express U.S. freight services, the charge applies to the value in excess of $100 or $1 per lb., whichever is greater. For international services, the charge applies to the value in excess of $100 or $9.07 per lb., whichever is greater.
- FedEx Ground declared-value charges increased from $0.65 to $0.70 per $100 of value. The charge applies to shipments valued in excess of $100, and the minimum charge increased from $1.95 to $2.10.
For applicable FedEx Express U.S. and FedEx Ground U.S. services, a delivery area surcharge applies to shipments destined to select ZIP codes.
- The surcharge for commercial shipments increased from $1.60 per package to $1.70 per package.
- The surcharge for residential shipments increased from $2.40 per package to $2.50 per package.
- For shipments receiving multiweight pricing, the fee is assessed per package, and the maximum Delivery Area Surcharge increased from $8 to $8.50 per shipment for both commercial and residential shipments.
Delivery Reattempt
For FedEx Express U.S. freight services, shipper- or recipient-arranged delivery reattempts are subject to delivery reattempt charges. The charge increased from the greater of $40 per shipment or $0.0428 per lb. to the greater of $43 per shipment or $0.046 per lb.
Extra Service Charge
For FedEx Express U.S. freight services and FedEx International Premium® service, an extra service charge applies when the shipper or recipient requests a special handling service beyond the standard freight pickup and delivery features. The charge increased from the greater of $59 per shipment or $59 per handler hour to the greater of $62 per shipment or $62 per handler hour.
FedEx® Collect on Delivery (C.O.D.)
- For applicable FedEx Express U.S. package services, the charge for FedEx C.O.D. increased from $9 per package to $10 per package. The cap for FedEx Express Multiweight shipments increased from $63 to $70.
- For applicable FedEx Express U.S. freight services, the charge for FedEx C.O.D. increased from $50 per shipment to $55 per shipment.
Some charges for FedEx Delivery Signature Options increased:
- For FedEx Express U.S. package and FedEx Ground services, the charge for Direct Signature Required increased from $2.75 per package to $3 per package.
- For FedEx Express U.S. package and FedEx Ground U.S. services, the charge for Adult Signature Required increased from $3.75 per package to $4 per package.
FedEx Ground® Call Tag
The charge for FedEx Ground Call Tag pickup for commercial locations increased from $7 per package to $8 per package when you call FedEx Customer Service to request a call tag. The charge also increased from $6 to $7 per package when you use an electronic shipping solution or select Schedule a Pickup from the Ship tab at fedex.com. The charge for residential pickup increased from $7 per package to $8 per package.
FedEx Ground® C.O.D. and FedEx Ground® Electronic C.O.D. (E.C.O.D.)
- For applicable FedEx Ground services, the charge for FedEx Ground C.O.D. increased from $9 per package to $10 per package. The cap for FedEx Ground Multiweight shipments increased from $63 to $70.
- For FedEx Ground currency C.O.D. deliveries in the U.S. and Canada, the additional charge per package increased from $9 to $10 for currency collection up to $500, increasing from $450. Above that amount, an additional charge of 2% of the currency amount collected is assessed. The minimum additional charge for currency C.O.D. increased from $18 to $20 per package for all destinations. The cap for FedEx Ground Multiweight currency C.O.D. shipments in the U.S. increased from $126 to $140 for currency collection up to $500, increasing from $450. Above that amount, an additional charge of 2% of the currency amount collected is assessed. The cap for FedEx Ground Multiweight currency C.O.D. shipments in Canada increased from $126 to $140.
- For applicable FedEx Ground U.S. services, the charge for FedEx Ground E.C.O.D. increased from $9 per package to $10 per package. The cap for FedEx Ground Multiweight shipments increased from $63 to $70.
For FedEx Ground U.S. services, the surcharge for packages containing hazardous materials increased from $22.50 per package to $25 per package.
Inside Delivery Charge
For FedEx Express U.S. freight services, the charge for inside delivery increased from the greater of $65 per shipment or $0.0446 per lb. to the greater of $75 per shipment or $0.05 per lb.
Inside Pickup Charge
For FedEx Express U.S. freight services and FedEx International Premium service, the charge for inside pickup increased from the greater of $65 per shipment or $0.0446 per lb. to the greater of $75 per shipment or $0.05 per lb.
International Out-of-Delivery-Area Surcharge
For FedEx Express U.S. export package and freight shipments, the International Out-of-Delivery-Area Surcharge increased from the greater of $22 per shipment or $0.22 per lb. to the greater of $24 per shipment or $0.24 per lb.
International Out-of-Pickup-Area Surcharge
For FedEx Express U.S. import package and freight shipments, the International Out-of-Pickup-Area Surcharge increased from the greater of $22 per shipment or $0.22 per lb. to the greater of $24 per shipment or $0.24 per lb.
Oversize Charge
For FedEx Express U.S. package services and FedEx Ground services, the charge for oversize packages increased from $45 per package to $50 per package.
Reroute of Shipment
- For FedEx Express U.S. package services, the fee for a rerouted shipment increased from $10 per package to $11 per package.
- For FedEx Express Multiweight shipments, the maximum charge increased from $70 to $77.
- For FedEx Express U.S. freight services, the fee for a rerouted shipment increased from $50 to $55.
For FedEx Express U.S. package and freight services and FedEx Ground services, a residential delivery charge applies to shipments to a home or private residence.
- For FedEx Express U.S. package services and FedEx Ground services, the charge increased from $2.40 per package to $2.50 per package. For FedEx Home Delivery, the charge increased from $2.05 to $2.20 per package. There is a maximum residential delivery charge if the shipment receives multiweight pricing. The maximum residential delivery charge increased from $21 per shipment to $22 per shipment.
- For FedEx Express U.S. freight services, the charge increased from $90 per shipment to $100 per shipment.
For FedEx Express U.S. freight services and FedEx International Premium service, a residential pickup charge applies to shipments picked up from a home or private residence. The charge for residential pickup increased from $90 per shipment to $100 per shipment.
