FedEx Shipping Rates and Rate Changes

Why is the dimensional weight calculation changing?

This change simplifies how we calculate the dimensional weight of your packages. The same calculation will apply to all FedEx Express® and FedEx Ground® U.S. and international shipments.

Why is the fuel surcharge for FedEx Express and FedEx Ground changing from monthly to weekly?

This change will allow fuel costs to be more closely aligned with market pricing. Currently, the fuel surcharge is based on a fuel price from two months prior to the month in which it is assessed. Effective Feb. 6, 2017, the fuel surcharge will be based on a weekly fuel price from two weeks prior to the week in which it is assessed.

How is the fuel surcharge determined?

Go to our Fuel Surcharges page for information about FedEx Express, FedEx Ground and FedEx Freight fuel surcharges.

Why are my shipping rates changing?

For a shipping company, the cost of doing business — fuel prices, the cost of updating or replacing equipment and vehicles, and more — makes it necessary for us to periodically evaluate our shipping rates, surcharges and fees. We make adjustments to enable us to keep investing in our business and ensure that we continue to deliver the shipping solutions and service excellence you have come to expect from FedEx.
