FedEx Shipping Rates and Rate Changes

Why are some surcharges increasing during the 2017 holiday shipping season?

FedEx continues to experience strong demand for transportation of larger and heavier packages and we expect that trend to accelerate during the upcoming holiday season. The increases reflect our commitment to responsibly manage capacity through our network during the holiday shipping season.

Why are my shipping rates changing?

For a shipping company, the cost of doing business — fuel prices, the cost of updating or replacing equipment and vehicles, and more — makes it necessary for us to periodically evaluate our shipping rates, surcharges and fees. We make adjustments to enable us to keep investing in our business and ensure that we continue to deliver the shipping solutions and service excellence you have come to expect from FedEx.

What services are affected by the rate change?

  • FedEx Express package and freight rates will increase for U.S., U.S. export and U.S. import services.

Why is FedEx making changes to length, width and weight criteria this year?

FedEx continues to experience strong demand for transportation of larger and heavier packages. The changes reflect our commitment to continually invest in our business and responsibly manage capacity through our network to maintain outstanding service for these larger packages.
