Printer-Friendly Connecting Faces With the 58,261 Names

Honoring the service of our nation’s military, FedEx Office is helping to collect a picture of every person whose name is inscribed on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial.

Every year, millions of people visit the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, making it one of the most popular attractions on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. It’s a powerful landmark, and one that’s about to become even more compelling as FedEx Office helps to collect a photo for each of the 58,261 service members whose names are inscribed on The Wall.

The photos will be displayed at the new Education Center at The Wall to honor the service and sacrifice of these members of our nation’s Armed Forces. The Education Center, which will sit adjacent to the Memorial, will be a place where people can learn about sacrifice, honor and patriotism, as told through the stories of Americans who gave their lives in Vietnam.

Photo drop-off at FedEx Office

If you’re a family member or friend of a Vietnam War veteran, you can bring photos to your local FedEx Office, where a team member will scan the photo and upload it to a special Web site at no cost. All you need to do is complete a form about the service member. The photo drive will run through May 31, 2010.

FedEx has a long legacy of supporting military causes and personnel, making substantial contributions to the USO World Headquarters, the National World War II Museum, the Pearl Harbor Memorial Fund, the Disabled Veterans Life Memorial Foundation and the Air Force Memorial Foundation. FedEx also provides shipping of care packages for several military support organizations. FedEx Chairman, President and CEO Frederick Smith, himself a Vietnam War veteran, serves on the leadership committee of the drive to build the Education Center at The Wall.
