Effective Jan. 22, 2018, FedEx SmartPost will apply dimensional weight pricing with a dimensional weight divisor of 139 to all shipments except FedEx SmartPost rates by ounce. This change will align the FedEx SmartPost dimensional weight pricing with the FedEx Express and the FedEx Ground dimensional weight pricing.
Effective Jan. 22, 2018, FedEx SmartPost will introduce per-pound rates for the packages rated above 70 lbs. The shipping charges for a FedEx SmartPost Oversize package will be based on the greatest of the package’s actual rounded weight, dimensional weight and 71 lbs.
2018 FedEx SmartPost Surcharge Changes
Effective Jan. 1, 2018, the Delivery Area Surcharge will increase from $1.20 to $1.30 per package for shipments to applicable ZIP codes in the contiguous U.S. and from $1.70 to $1.85 per package for shipments to applicable ZIP codes in extended areas of the contiguous U.S., Alaska and Hawaii. Effective Jan. 1, 2018, the Non-Machinable Surcharge for all services will increase from $2.75 to $2.90 per package.
Effective Jan. 1, 2018, the Package Relabel Surcharge will increase from $0.50 to $0.60.
Effective Jan. 22, 2018, the Non-Machinable Surcharge will apply to any FedEx SmartPost item with one dimension measuring more than 27 inches. All other Non-Machinable Surcharge size, weight and packaging parameters remain unchanged.
Effective Jan. 22, 2018, a Third Party Billing Surcharge will apply to shipments that are billed to a third party. Learn more.
Delivery Area Surcharge
A Delivery Area Surcharge applies to FedEx SmartPost shipments destined to select U.S. ZIP codes. A list of the ZIP codes where the surcharge applies is available in PDF and TXT format.
