Feb. 20 Daytona 500 - Race Preview
Jason Leffler
"I'm just anxious to get down to Daytona and get that first race started with FedEx and Joe Gibbs Racing. I enjoy racing at the restrictor-plate tracks and unlike most guys I like being in those big packs. You won't see me riding around at the back unless I feel like we've got the car to win and I don't want to tear the fenders off of it. Otherwise I'll be right in there mixing it up trying to get the most I can out of it. "Most of all I'm just ready to get the season started with my new team and sponsor. My crew chief Dave Rogers and all of the guys on the FedEx team have done a tremendous job getting ready for Daytona and hopefully we can get out of there with a good finish." Dave Rogers -Crew chief "Our primary goal heading down to Daytona is to make the race. We don't have a provisional to fall back on so it's imperative that we race our way in or have a good enough time to fall back on. "Jason likes to race on the superspeedways and he has fun running in the big draft of cars. Once we're in the race I hope to run towards the front most of the day if our car is capable of doing so. I don't expect that you'll see Jason hanging back on purpose until the end like some will do. The closing laps are pretty crazy and it's anyone's guess how it will end up. My guys have done an excellent job preparing for the race and Jason is a great driver, so I expect to be pretty good from the word go."
