2009 FedEx Racing Employee Highlights
At FedEx Racing, we understand the excitement and intensity of race day. And we know that our team members share that devotion and passion. Since becoming a sponsor of Denny Hamlin and the #11 team, FedEx has always sought to bring the thrills of the FedEx Racing program to as many team members as possible. Check out some of the exciting ways team members have been interacting with FedEx Racing throughout 2009, and be sure to check fedexracing.com regularly throughout the 2010 season for exciting updates including discount offers and exclusive content.
FedEx Takes Team Members “Along for the Ride”
For each 2009 Sprint Cup Race a FedEx hub, region, station or store was selected to “Ride Along” with Denny and the #11 FedEx Toyota. The winning group had their selected designator displayed on the wing caps of the #11 Camry for all to see on race day. Taking our great FedEx employees “Along for the Ride” is our way of saying thanks for being part of the FedEx team.
FedEx Provides Special Discount Ticket Offers to Team Members
In a partnership with Toyota, FedEx received 100 Grandstand ticket packages for the weekend (Fri-Sun track activities) to sell to team members for $11 per package for the opening race in the 2009 Chase for the Sprint Cup at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.
The offer was promoted on FedExRacing.com and sold out in just over 24 hours! Team members were able to witness the excitement as Hamlin finished second.
Team Members Experience the Thrill of NASCAR First Hand
FedEx provided team members with special hospitality experiences at two Sprint Cup races in 2009: the Subway Fresh Fit 500 at Phoenix International Raceway and the AAA 400 at Dover International Speedway. FedEx Racing hosted more than 400 total team members at these races and provided an at-track experience that included pit lane tours, as well as appearances and autographs by Denny Hamlin and Joe Gibbs.
Team Members Wish Denny Good Luck
At the Dover team member hospitality experience, FedEx provided a pit wall banner for team members to sign and leave well wishes for Denny and the #11 team. Prior to the start of the race, the banner was brought down to pit road and installed on the wall for the team to use during the race.
Additionally, throughout the first five races of the Chase, team members visited the FedEx Citizenship blog and shared their good luck messages for Denny and the #11 team. All comments were collected and imprinted onto a special customized pit wall banner and presented to Denny at Martinsville. The support seemed to help as Denny led a race high 206 laps and secured his second Grandfather clock trophy to sweep the fall races in his home state of Virginia.Click here to see the pit wall banner
FedEx Brings NASCAR to Team Members
During the 2009 season, the FedEx Racing showcar program attended 25 team member events, including hub visits and employee appreciation days. Over 750 FedEx team members got the opportunity to see the #11 showcar up close and personal.
FedEx Salutes Team Members in Memphis
FedEx hosted 400 team members and their guests at the Kroger on Track for the Cure 250 Nationwide Series race at Memphis Motorsports Park on Oct. 24, 2009. In honor of their hard work and dedication, FedEx ran a special paint scheme on the #18 car driven by Nationwide Series points leader and JGR teammate Kyle Busch, while Hamlin focused on delivering FedEx to Victory Lane in the Cup Series at Martinsville. Busch challenged for the win during the last lap, but ultimately finished second.
Additionally, FedEx brought the #18 Salute to Team Members showcar to over 1,000 team members at various sites in Memphis, including the SuperHub, WHQ, WTC and CTC locations. The week concluded with the showcar at the Memphis Motorsports Park hospitality.
On Dec. 10, 2009, Denny Hamlin, J.D. Gibbs and Coach Joe Gibbs visited with team members at FedEx Express World Headquarters in Memphis to personally thank them for their support. About 400 employees showed up and interacted with the members of Joe Gibbs Racing while receiving autographs and pictures courtesy of FedEx.
