2010 FedEx Racing Team Member Highlights
At FedEx Racing, we understand the excitement and intensity of race day. And we know that our team members share that devotion and passion. Since becoming a sponsor of the #11 car, FedEx has always sought ways to share the FedEx Racing program with Denny's largest fan base, our more than 280,000 team members. FedEx Continues to Take Team Members "Along for the Ride"
For the second consecutive year, a FedEx hub, region, station or store is selected to "ride along" with Denny and the #11 team each week. The winning group has their designator on the b-post of the #11 FedEx car for all to see on race day. Over the course of the season, team members joined Denny in Victory Lane eight times this season, on the way to the most successful season yet for Denny and the #11 team. Taking our great FedEx employees "Along for the Ride" is our way of saying thanks for being part of the FedEx team.
Denny Visits with Team Members at Work
Denny and the #11 FedEx team continued the tradition of visiting with team members at their places of work. On July 22, 2010, Denny Hamlin visited with over 250 team members at the FedEx Express Hub in Indianapolis, the second-largest FedEx Express Hub in the U.S. Denny signed autographs and posed for pictures with each team member at the event, and then took a tour of the facility.
On Oct. 7, 2010, Denny visited with 400 team members at FedEx Freight in Harrison, AR for the first time. In addition to pictures with Denny, employees received a FedEx Freight die cast car and were able to view the #11 FedEx Freight showcar. Additionally, attendees signed the pit wall banner with well wishes for the Chase race at Auto Club Speedway on Oct. 10.
On Oct. 28, approximately 150 team members met Denny Hamlin at the FedEx Express facility in Greensboro, NC.
Team Member At-Track Experiences
FedEx Racing, Denny Hamlin and the #11 team appreciate the support of our dedicated team members, and in 2010, FedEx Racing continued our exclusive at-track hospitality program that included food and beverage, a FedEx Racing pit kit, tickets to the race, pit lane tours, appearances by Denny Hamlin and Joe Gibbs, and a special pit wall banner for employees to sign well wishes for the #11 team. This season, about 650 team members enjoyed at-track hospitality in Talladega (April 2), Indianapolis (July 25), Dover (Sept. 26) and Charlotte (Oct. 16).
New for 2010, in addition to the at-track hospitality program, FedEx Racing introduced a discount grandstand ticket program to provide team members the opportunity to get to the track to cheer on Denny Hamlin and the #11 team. Team members had the opportunity to purchase discounted tickets to the following races this season: Bristol (March), Richmond (May), New Hampshire (June), Fontana (Oct.), Phoenix (Nov.) and Miami (Nov.) In addition to a discount, each ticket purchase included a FedEx Racing hat so that participants could identify their fellow team members and enjoy at-track camaraderie. Almost 200 employees participated in the program, with over 100 attending the last two Chase races to cheer on Denny and the #11 team in their quest for the 2010 Sprint Cup Championship.
Denny's Helmet Design Program
As part of the Championship Chase, Denny Hamlin and the #11 FedEx team gave team members across the country the opportunity to be part of the race team by allowing them the chance to design the helmet that Denny wore at the Martinsville race on Oct. 24. After receiving many unique designs, Charles Tyler's drawing was chosen as the winning helmet design to represent more than 280,000 team members as Denny started from the pole and dominated the sixth race of the Chase to sweep the Martinsville races in 2010.
Phoenix Pit Wall Banner
In support of the #11 team during the Chase, FedEx team members had the chance to leave well wishes for Denny and the team via Denny's post to the FedEx Citizenship Blog. The support definitely helped, as Denny and the team led a race-high 190 laps to maintain their Championship hopes.Click here to see the banner!
FedEx Courier #11 Sticker Program
FedEx Racing delivered almost 18,000 #11 FedEx Racing stickers to select FedEx Express stations in the final six Chase race markets. Couriers then distributed the stickers to customers along their routes, and spread the support for Denny Hamlin and the #11 team. Thank you for your support!
Additionally, to support Denny and the #11 team's quest for the Championship, FedEx provided approximately 1,800 special decals for FedEx Express delivery trucks in the final three Chase markets: Dallas, Phoenix and Miami.
FedEx Brings NASCAR to Team Members
During the 2010 season, the FedEx Racing showcar program attended 70 team member events, including hub visits and employee appreciation days. Team members enjoyed interacting with the showcar teams and the opportunity to see the #11 showcar up close and personal.
Homestead-Miami Viewing Party
Denny and the #11 team entered the final race of the 2010 season at Homestead-Miami Speedway with a chance to win their first Sprint Cup Championship. To help cheer on Denny and celebrate the best season ever for the #11 team, FedEx Racing held a private viewing of the final race on Sunday, Nov. 21 at the WHQ campus in the Building G Auditorium. FedEx team members were allowed to bring up to three family members to the event, which featured a season highlight video with special message from Denny.
