2011 FedEx Racing Team Member Highlights
At FedEx Racing, we understand the excitement and intensity of race day - and we know that our team members share that devotion and passion. Check out some of the ways Denny's largest fan base, our more than 290,000 FedEx team members, experienced FedEx Racing programs throughout the 2011 season.
FedEx Racing Continues to Take Team Members "Along for the Ride"
For the third consecutive year, a FedEx hub, region, station or store was selected to "ride along" with Denny and the #11 team each week. The winning group had their designator on the b-post of the #11 FedEx car for all to see on race day. During the 2011 season, 35 different groups were recognized, including team members who "joined" Denny in Victory Lane at Michigan International Speedway on June 19! Taking our great FedEx team members "Along for the Ride" is our way of saying thanks for being part of the FedEx team. Click here to learn more
Denny Visits with Team Members at Work
Denny and the #11 FedEx team continued the tradition of visiting with team members at their places of work in 2011. During each visit, Denny signed autographs and posed for pictures with each team member at the event. Attendees also participated in other activities including green screen photos and signing a banner to be hung on the pit box at their local Sprint cup Series race, and also took home a FedEx Racing giveaway.
Denny visited with over 300 team members at the FedEx Express Hub in Oakland, Calif. on June 23, helped FedEx Ground kickoff FY12, visiting with over 450 team members in Pittsburgh, Pa. for the first time on Aug. 4, spent time with about 600 team members at the FedEx Express Super Hub in Memphis (TN) on Sept. 22, and finished this season's visits at the FedEx Express Hub in Dallas/ Ft. Worth (TX) on Nov. 3 with about 200 team members.
Team Member Hospitality Experiences
Denny Hamlin and the #11 team appreciate the support of our dedicated team members, and in 2011, FedEx continued the exclusive at-track hospitality program so team members could enjoy time with each other at the track. The team member hospitality program included food and beverage, a FedEx Racing pit kit, tickets to the race, pit lane tours and appearances by Denny Hamlin and Coach Joe Gibbs.
During the 2011 season, about 800 team members and their guests enjoyed at-track hospitality in Dallas (April 9), Dover (May 15), Bristol (Aug. 27), New Hampshire (Sept. 25), Phoenix (Nov. 13) and Miami (Nov. 20). FedEx team members continued to support the hospitality program, with Dover, Bristol, and New Hampshire each selling out in record time.
Based on the success of the inaugural discounted grandstand ticket program in 2010, where almost 200 team members made it to the track to cheer on Denny Hamlin and the #11 team, FedEx again offered team members the opportunity to purchase tickets at discounted rates. Over 300 team members attended six races during the 2011 season: Richmond (April), Kansas (June), Kentucky (July), Indianapolis (July), Talladega (Oct.) and Martinsville (Oct.). In addition to a discount, each ticket purchase included a 2011 FedEx Racing hat so that participants could identify their fellow team members and enjoy the race together.
FedEx Brings #11 Car to Team Members
The FedEx Racing showcar attended 50 team member events, including hub visits and team member appreciation days. Team members enjoyed interacting with the showcar teams and the opportunity to see the #11 car up close.
Team Members Participate in Homestead-Miami Race
As part of the Championship Chase, Denny and the #11 team gave team members the opportunity to design the helmet to be worn during the final race of the 2011 season at Homestead-Miami on Nov. 20. Neil Cohen's drawing was chosen over approximately 100 of his peers. The Project Engineer's design represented our more than 290,000 team members.
