Special Shipments
The world of FedEx covers a broad spectrum of shipping services. There are a number of shipments that require special care or that may not be accepted by FedEx, or by the importing or exporting countries. Please contact us for more information.
Materials listed below may require special handling, or may not be accepted:
- Dangerous Goods: A number of items fall under this category such as aerosol sprays, airbags, ammunition, butane, car batteries, cologne, dry ice, fireworks, etc. These items are not allowed for shipment to South Africa. - Explosives: Explosives are Dangerous Goods items. These items are not allowed for shipment to South Africa. For information about whether they are allowed for shipment to your destination country, see Transit Times and Coverage.
- Liquor: This includes any alcoholic beverage for human consumption. FedEx requires both the shipper and receiver to be licensed entities in order to receive liquor shipments. Gift shipments of alcohol are also included in this prohibition. Please note that any alcoholic beverage with over 70% alcohol (140 proof) or alcoholic beverages containing less than 70% alcohol (140 proof) in containers exceeding 5 liters is considered a Dangerous Goods item.
