What you need to know to ship lithium batteries?
Required Documents
- Shipper's Declaration required.
- Ensure the FedEx air waybill indicates the following statements "Dangerous Goods as per associated Shipper's Declaration" and "Cargo Aircraft Only".
Required Packaging and Labelling
- UN specification packaging required (must meet Packing Group II standards).
- Class 9 Lithium Batteries or Sodium Ion Batteries Label (Figure 1) with a CAO Label (Figure 2) affixed on the same surface.

Accepted to cities: Bandar Baru Sungai Buloh, Bandar Damansara, Bandar Sungai Buaya, Bukit Beruntung, Kota Damansara, Kuala Lumpur, Petaling Jaya, Rawang, Serendah, Sungai Buloh, Alor Gajah, Batu Berendam, Kuala Lumpur Intl Apt, Sepang, Bayan Lepas, Bukit Mertajam, Bukit Tengah, Butterworth, George Town, Nibong Tebal, Paya Terubong, Penang, Permatang Pauh, Sungai Bakap, Telok Bahang, Bandar Sunway, Batu 9 Cheras, Cyberjaya, Hulu Langat, Kapar, Klang, Lapangan Terbang Sultan Abdul Aziz, Puchong, Puchong Jaya, Putra Height, Putrajaya, Seri Kembangan, Subang Jaya, Taman Perindustrian Suban, University Putra Malaysia.
3 Philippines: Service limited to BNQ (Pasay City), CUJ (Cavite), CYU (Clark), CYZ (Quezon City), LWA (Laguna), MNL (Manila), PAG (Pasig) and SFE (Subic) locations only.
4 Thailand: Lithium battery shipments to HHQX (Bangna, Samutprakarn), NAKA (Nakorn Ratchasima), HKTA (Phuket), CNXA (Chiang Mai) and LPTA (Lumpoon) must use “Broker Select Option” service only (no FedEx clearance and no FedEx delivery). Lithium battery shipments have a daily storage fee. Please contact the Customer Service Hotline for further information.
5 ALASKA (USA):
- Dangerous goods are prohibited to/from locations BRW and PUO in Anchorage, Alaska. This includes all Section II lithium battery shipments bearing the Lithium Battery Mark.
- Dangerous goods are prohibited to/from locations Juneau (JNU), Ketchikan (KTN), and Sitka (SIT) however Section II lithium batteries bearing the Lithium Battery Mark without the CARGO AIRCRAFT ONLY label can be accepted to/from these locations.
HAWAII (USA): Dangerous goods are prohibited to/from the Kalaupapa area of the island of Molokai however Section II lithium batteries bearing the Lithium Battery Mark without the CARGO AIRCRAFT ONLY label can be accepted to/from these locations.
6 Indonesia: only accept from Jakarta and Batam.
7 Japan: only accept from Sanbu-Gun Shibuyama-Machi.
