PrivilegesPrivileges allow a shipping administrator to set permissions on Address Books, customize feature settings and define the services and options available to Departments and Users. When a user is assigned to a department, the privileges for that department become his or her default settings. To customize privileges at the user level, select Customize privileges, references and defaults in the User Settings section on the User Profile screen. Set Department or User privileges
Please note the headings in each section when selecting the privileges.
Address BookThe Address Book feature is available in FedEx Ship Manager® under the My Lists tab. The following Address Books are located under the Addresses tab when allowed by the administrator. Refer to Address Book for more information about adding, editing, deleting, importing and exporting addresses. Personal address bookSelect this option to allow access to the personal address book where Users can create and manage up to 2,000 contacts.Shared address bookSelect this option to allow access to a shared address book created for a subset of Users within the company (as opposed to a central address book, below). Up to 2,000 contacts can be stored in a shared address book, along with all of their shipping defaults. A User without administrative privileges cannot add, edit, or delete records in a shared address book.Central address bookSelect this option to allow access to the central address book where Users can access company-wide address information. Users without administrative privileges cannot add, edit or delete records in the central address book. Up to 25,000 recipients can be stored in the Central Address Book, along with all of their shipping defaults.Sender profile/Add new sendersSelect this option to allow the User to create up to 50 sender profiles and to select or enter different sender information on the Create a Shipment screen. This allows the User more flexibility in how he or she ships. A sender profile is counted as an address book record.GeneralProcess return shipmentsSelect this option to allow the ability to process return shipments. A popup then appears asking for Return Contact Information. Enter the return contact telephone number and an optional e-mail message, and then click Continue.When you select this option, the Create Return Shipment option under the Prepare Shipment tab and the Process a return shipment option in the Special Services section become available to the User. Can only create return shipmentsSelect this option to allow the ability to create return shipments only. When this option is selected, User will only have the ability to select Create Return Shipment from FedEx Ship Manager.Require RMA no.Select this option to require a Return Material Authorization (RMA) number for return shipments. The RMA no. field will then show up in the Billing Details section in FedEx Ship Manager.Enable Electronic Trade Documents (ETD)Select this option to allow the User to electronically attach customs documents to the shipments. The customs documents will then show up in the FedEx Ship Manager under My Shipment Profiles and in the Product/ Commodity Information under Customs Documentation.Create pending shipmentsSelect this option to allow a User to save a shipment that can be processed later today or on a future date.Can only create pending shipmentsSelect this option to only allow a User to save a shipment in pending status and not allow the processing and printing of a shipping label.Process other users pending shipmentsSelect this option to allow a User to finalize other Users’ (who are tied to the same account number) pending shipments and print the shipping label. This option is not available to Users who have been assigned the option to “Can only create pending shipments.”Allow user to schedule pickupSelect this option to allow the User to schedule pickups for shipments. The Pickup/Dropoff section would then show up in FedEx Ship Manager.View regular scheduled pickup(s)Select this option to allow the User to view regular scheduled pickup(s). List of regular scheduled pickup(s) would then be displayed under My Pickups for review.Cancel regular scheduled pickup(s)Select this option to allow the User to cancel regular scheduled pickup(s). User will be provided with an option to cancel regular scheduled pickup(s) by going to My Pickups under Schedule a Pickup.Rates and Transit TimesHide rate quoteSelect this option to restrict the User’s access to the courtesy rate quote and eliminate the ability to view all rate quote information on the FedEx Ship Manager screens.View all servicesSelect this option to allow the User to view all services available for the shipment in the Rates and Transit Times section in FedEx Ship Manager.show this section expandedSelect this option to always show the Rates and Transit Times section expanded in FedEx Ship Manager.Additional PreferencesWhen creating a shipment, Users may change these options from the defaults. Prevent customs value from printing on the shipping label (Available in Europe, Middle East, and Africa only)Select this option to prevent the customs value from printing on the User's shipping label. If this option is not selected, customs value will be shown on the User's shipping label. Note: Preventing the customs value from printing on the User's shipping label without proper registration may result in shipment delays. If unsure, please check with your FedEx representative to confirm if your organization is properly registered to use this service. Set up additional handling chargesSelect this option to allow the User to enable fixed and variable handling charges for FedEx Express and FedEx Ground shipments in the Billing Details section on the Preferences screen in FedEx Ship Manager. These charges display when a User requests a courtesy rate quote or accesses the shipping details for a particular shipment. This capability allows the User to charge back additional costs to the recipient.Display pending shipments confirmationSelect this option to always show the Pending Shipment Confirmation receipt whenever a pending shipment is created and saved.Set up thermal printerSelect this option to allow the User to configure a thermal printer for printing shipping labels in the Printer and Scale Options section on the Preferences screen in FedEx Ship Manager. If this privilege is not selected, only a laser or inkjet printer can be used.View/Update default shipping informationSelect this option to allow the User to view and change default shipping information (e.g., default service type, package type, billing details) when creating a shipment or setting defaults on the Preferences screen in FedEx Ship Manager.View/Update default referencesSelect this option to allow the User to change the Reference Field defaults assigned by the Administrator. When this option is selected, the User can enter new Reference defaults in the Billing Details section on the Preferences screen in FedEx Ship Manager.Domestic ServicesPlease refer to the FedEx Service Guide at fedex.com for detailed information on FedEx® services and delivery commitments. Please note that FedEx Economy Service is only available within Canada. Select allSelect this option to allow the User access to all FedEx domestic services.Select individual servicesSelect individual FedEx domestic services to make available to the User.Apply to return shipmentsSelect this option to also allow User access to the selected FedEx domestic services on return shipments, as well.Please note that Apply to return shipments is applicable to FedEx Express and FedEx Ground services only. SmartPost ServicesSmartPost Services section will be displayed if one or more of your account numbers are enabled for the SmartPost Service. Select allSelect this option to allow the User access to all FedEx SmartPost Services.Select individual servicesSelect individual FedEx SmartPost services to make available to the User.Instructions for undeliverable packagesChange Service RequestedSeparate notice of new address or reason for nondelivery provided (address correction fee charged).Piece disposed of by USPS.
