Our new gateway facility at Copenhagen Airport will expand your access to markets within the Nordic region and also to and from North America and the rest of the world.
The four Nordic countries – Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden – have experienced steady economic growth in recent years, with shipments from these markets to the rest of Europe and to North America increasing by more than 24% and 22% respectively ending May 2015.
It’s because Copenhagen Airport is ideally positioned between North America and the Middle East that it has become the largest cargo hub in Northern Europe, with more than 370,000 tonnes of goods being handled in 2015. The extra capacity and state of the art technology that’s built into the new FedEx facility means that you’ll benefit from faster clearance and delivery times plus speedier access to even more markets as your business grows over the years to come.
The new 8,000 m2 facility, located at Copenhagen Airport’s cargo area near the Oresund Bridge to Sweden, is manned by approximately 120 FedEx team members who together can:
- sort 3,300 packages per hour;
- process 18 FedEx flights per week;
- handle 170 truck movements per week using a fleet of 36 pick-up and delivery vehicles.
Our Nordic gateway in Copenhagen is the ninth new FedEx facility we have opened in the region in the last five years. Along with more than 100 new stations we have opened throughout Europe over the last ten years it marks another stage in our continuing commitment to get you, your suppliers and your customers even more connected in Europe and bring you closer to the rest of the world.
