What you can do when faced with service disruptions

If you’re shipping or receiving a package that could be affected by a FedEx weather delay or other cause, there are some actions you can take before—or even after—it’s shipped.

Shippers can:

  • Check our active service alerts to see if any impact the package’s origin or destination area.

  • Contact the recipient to make sure they’re able to receive a package in the event there is a shipping delay.

Recipients can:

  • Have the shipper send their package to an alternate address that’s unaffected by the service disruption.

  • Allow for extra shipping time to compensate for delays.

Shippers can:

  • Request to redirect the package to a FedEx location to be held for pickup.

Recipients can:

Request to reroute their package to a different address.

  • To request to reroute a package, recipients should track their package, then use FedEx Delivery Manager to request an address change.

  • Recipients can also call the shipper and ask them to request to reroute the package to a different address.
