What you need to know to ship lithium batteries?

Required Documents

  • Shipper’s Declaration required.

  • Indicate as below in FedEx air waybill:

    • "Dangerous Goods as per associated Shipper's Declaration" and "Cargo Aircraft Only".

Required Packaging and Labelling

  • Strong rigid outer packaging.

  • Class 9 Lithium Batteries or Sodium Ion Batteries Label (Figure 1) with a CAO Label (Figure 2) affixed on the same surface.

 

If net quantity of batteries per package is above 5kg and no more than 35kg:

  • Dangerous goods are prohibited to/from locations Juneau (JNU), Ketchikan (KTN), and Sitka (SIT) however Section II lithium batteries bearing the Lithium Battery Mark without the CARGO AIRCRAFT ONLY label can be accepted to/from these locations.

HAWAII (USA): Dangerous goods are prohibited to/from the Kalaupapa area of the island of Molokai however Section II lithium batteries bearing the Lithium Battery Mark without the CARGO AIRCRAFT ONLY label can be accepted to/from these locations.
