Peak Surcharge

Peak Surcharge

Due to the COVID-19 crisis, we announced a surcharge on all FedEx Express international parcel and freight shipments and all TNT international shipments beginning April, 2020.

This is due to a constrained environment where air cargo capacity remains limited, and we are incurring incremental costs as we continue to adjust our international networks to best deliver much-needed goods and services for our customers.

Beginning May 10, 2021, the peak surcharge amount for FedEx Express international freight package services for shipments originating from MEISA to US and Canada and shipments originating from US and Canada to MEISA will increase from $0.22 per kg to $0.77 per kg.

Why is FedEx instituting a peak surcharge increase during a global health crisis?

The restrictions issued by various governments to contain the spread of COVID-19 are disrupting the global supply chain. Air cargo capacity is limited, and we’ve had to make adjustments so that our international networks can best deliver much-needed goods and services in this constrained environment.

How long will the surcharge remain in effect?

Until further notice. Market conditions are shifting rapidly because of COVID-19 and we will evaluate this surcharge on an ongoing basis.
