Ana By Karma Limited
ANA is a charming social enterprise started by a HK accountant in mid-2014; with Bhutanese weavers to sell hand-make scarves worldwide.
Tell us about your business, what inspired you to get into it, what you sell/service you offer, what makes your business stand out and how it impacts you, your community or the environment.
ANA started because Quin wanted to help one poor illiterate woman with great talents in weavings to start a small business. One-off help became a social enterprise within a few months. One woman became a whole village of women. Quin introduced innovation - to change cloth weaving into scarf making. And used social media to sell thousands each year to global customers. Quin has another exciting new innovation for 2017 - to grow the business. Our motto? Do small things with great love.
How would you use the FedEx Small Business Grant money to make a significant impact on your business?
Our first innovation is cloth making to scarf. Very successful. Our NEXT innovative product is Waist Belt Making into Luggage Belts for global travellers. Using tech (APP), customers can personalise the luggage belt by choosing belt colour, adding own name, and patterns. One belt at a time, the women will weave according to specifications. FedEx grant enables APP design, special sewing machine, raw materials, marketing and courier of the belts to global customers in a timely, reliable manner.
