Express Package Services

 

A surcharge applies to any shipment that:

 

(Dimension)

1) measure greater than 121 cm along its longest side;

2) measure greater than 76 cm along its second-longest side;

 

(Weight)

3) has an actual weight greater than 31kg; or if the average weight of all packages exceed 31kg.

 

(Packaging)

4) is not fully encased in an outer shipping container;

5) is encased in an outer shipping container not made of corrugated fiberboard (cardboard) materials, including but not limited to metal, wood, canvas, leather, hard plastic, soft plastic (e.g., plastic bags)   or expanded polystyrene foam (e.g., Styrofoam);

6) is encased in an outer shipping container covered in shrink wrap  or stretch wrap;

7) is encased in a soft-sided pack (e.g., courier packs, poly bags and bubble mailers) that exceeds 45 cm along its longest side or 33 cm along its second-longest side or 12 cm in height;

8) is cylindrical, including (without limitation) mailing tubes, cans, buckets, barrels, drums or pails;

9) is bound with metal, plastic or cloth banding, or has wheels, casters, handles, or straps (including packages where the outer surface area is loosely wrapped, or where the contents protrude outside the surface area);

10) could become entangled in or cause damage to other packages or the FedEx sortation system.

For International express, this surcharge applies per shipment even if multiple pieces are bundled in a shipment. If a shipment meets more than one additional handling surcharge criteria (Dim, Weight, Packaging), only the surcharge with highest net rate will apply.

Additional Handling Surcharge – Freight

 

Express Freight Services

A surcharge applies to any freight handling unit that measures greater than 157 cm along its longest side.

For International express freight services, this surcharge applies on  a per-freight-handling-unit basis even if multiple pieces of freight are bundled in a shipment. FedEx reserves the right to assess additional handling charges for freight and any freight handling unit that require special handling during transit.

Oversize Charge

Express Package Services

An oversize charge applies to shipments that exceed 243 cm in length or 330 cm in length and girth.

For International express, this surcharge applies per shipment even if multiple pieces are bundled in a shipment.

A shipment that meets Oversize and Additional Handling (Weight/Packaging) criteria will be subject to both charges.

  • FedEx reserves the right to assess additional handling charges for packages that require special handling or that require additional packaging during transit.
  • Package shape and dimensions may change during transit, which can affect the package’s dimensional weight and surcharge eligibility. If the dimensions change during transit, FedEx may make appropriate adjustments to the shipment charges at any time.

Additional Handling Surcharge — Non-stackable (AHS-NS) 
Effective March 28, 2016, all non-stackable FedEx Express Freight export shipments are subject to an additional handling surcharge of US$175,00 per shipment.

Non-stackable shipments are:

  • Customer identify a shipment as non-stackable by placing non-stackable labels to its skid or pallet;
  • A Skid or Pallet with protrusions or empty boxes on the top;
  • A skid or pallet in an obtuse angle shape.

 

Minimum Billable Weight for FedEx Express Packaging
Effective Jan. 21, 2013 FedEx Express shipments packaged in FedEx Express boxes and tubes will be subject to a minimum billable. Minimum billable weight for FedEx Express tube is 4 kg. & for FedEx Boxes is 1 kg.

 

Account Benefits
FedEx offers qualified businesses the convenience of charging all inbound and outbound shipping, customs duties, taxes and related fees on one account number. With a valid FedEx account, no cash is needed at the time of shipping or receiving packages.

 

Address Correction
If the recipient’s address is found to be incomplete or incorrect (e.g. incorrect postal codes, omitted apartment numbers or former street addresses for recipients who have relocated), or if a valid telephone number for the recipient is not provided on the air waybill, a special handling fee per address correction will be assessed.

Declared Value for Carriage1
The Declared Value for Carriage fee is US$0.87 per US$100.00 in declared value, with the first US$100.00 or US$20.00 per kg (whichever is greater) free. The maximum Declared Value for Carriage varies by country and type of service , but shall not exceed US$50,000.00 per shipment (US$100,000.00 for FedEx International Priority Freight shipments), For Items of Extraordinary Value, there is a limit of US$1,000.00 or less, depending upon destination country. The Declared Value for Carriage may not exceed the Declared Value for Customs. Call FedEx for more information.

Declared Value for Letters and Paks
FedEx Letter maximum declared value is US$100.00 and up to 1/2 kilo, or 30 unfolded pages. FedEx Pak maximum declared value is US$100.00 and up to 1 kg. Over 1 kg use FedEx International Priority rates.

 

Dimensional Weight
Dimensional weight is calculated by multiplying the length by width by height of each package and dividing the total by 5,000 if the volume is in centimeters, or by 0.005 if the volume is in meters (the fractions of half a kilo are rounded off to the following half kilo).

Duties & Taxes
To ensure the fastest delivery possible, FedEx prepays the assessed customs duty and taxes for your express shipments. You may pay this in cash at the time of delivery, or if you prefer the convenience of charging them to your FedEx account, a fee of US$5.00 or 2% of the duties advanced will be billed to you.

 

Fuel Surcharge
All shipments are subject to an adjustable fuel surcharge. The surcharge percentage will be subject to adjustment monthly using a rounded average of the U.S. Gulf Coast (USGC) spot price for a gallon of kerosene-type jet fuel, as published monthly by the U.S. Department of Energy.

Changes to the FedEx Express fuel surcharge will be applied effective the first Monday of each month. The surcharge percentage will be reflected on your FedEx invoice. The percentage for each month will be available at fedex.com approximately two weeks before the surcharge is applicable.

 

Limits of Liability
The maximum liability for loss, damage or delay or any claim with regard to any shipment is limited to US$100 or US$20.00 per kg (whichever is greater), unless the shipper declares a greater value for carriage and pays an additional fee.

 

Payment Terms
Invoices for transportation charges are payable within 30 days of the invoice date. Invoices for duties and taxes are payable upon receipt.
