Behind Every Comfortable Step: How An Indonesian Footwear Brand Manages A Global Supply Chain
By FedEx | October 2, 2026
How did a humble footwear business in a family garage evolve into a premium brand with retail locations across Indonesia? Bocorocco's story is one of pain, passion, and a relentless pursuit of comfort – powered by a global supply chain that helps bring its innovations to life.
- Bocorocco evolved from a family-owned footwear manufacturer into a premium Indonesian lifestyle brand, following its acquisition of an Italian footwear brand and its patented Pillow Concept Technology™ in 2018.
- As the brand expanded its product range, sourcing specialized materials from Italy and China became essential to maintaining the quality and design standards its customers expect.
- For time-sensitive imports, Bocorocco relies on FedEx’s international freight services to move critical materials efficiently, minimize production delays, and keep new product launches on schedule.
Four generations. Two continents. One life-changing pair of shoes. For Indonesian footwear business Bocorocco, the journey from a small home industry to a premium brand with over 40 retail locations has been anything but ordinary.
Bocorocco traces its roots back to a home-based business operating from a family garage. Run by current owner Ingrid Saidbun’s great-grandparents, the business grew over generations into an export manufacturer producing footwear for international brands across 26 countries. This manufacturing heritage laid the foundation for a new chapter of innovation.
The turning point came when Ingrid's father discovered Bocorocco, an Italian brand designed to provide comfort through its patented Pillow Concept Technology™. Her father had suffered from chronic foot pain for years, trying countless solutions without relief. After three months of consistently wearing Bocorocco shoes, his pain disappeared entirely.
Moved by his experience and convinced that many others were living silently with the same problem, he brought the brand to Indonesia. Subsequently, he acquired the global brand and its patented technology in 2018, making Bocorocco proudly Indonesian-owned.
Today, Bocorocco’s global approach remains evident in its sourcing of quality materials from around the world. As the business continues to grow, it works with FedEx to keep its global supply chain running smoothly, ensure production stays on track, and deliver comfort to customers at every step.
Turning comfort into a competitive advantage
Bocorocco faced teething troubles in its early days. For the first three years, the business operated at a loss – not because the product fell short, but because its value proposition wasn’t being communicated effectively.
Momentum began to build when Bocorocco invested in training its sales team to clearly explain the technology behind every pair of shoes. Once customers understood what made the brand different, word of mouth spread naturally and customer loyalty grew. By 2018 and 2019, the brand had earned recognition from the SOGO Department Store Group, receiving the Best Brand and Most Motivational Brand awards.
At the heart of every Bocorocco footwear is the Pillow Concept Technology™. Displayed through cutaway shoe models in many of its stores, this nine-layer insole system combines cushioning, shock absorption, and stabilization to provide optimal support and all-day comfort. Every shoe – from sandals and sneakers to formal shoes and heels – is built around this technology, embodying Bocorocco’s brand philosophy: customers should never have to choose between comfort and style.
This customer-first thinking shapes everything Bocorocco does. During the COVID-19 pandemic, as people embraced healthier and more active lifestyles, the brand expanded its range to include walking and running sneakers, as well as home sandals designed to bring the same level of comfort indoors. Rather than chasing trends, the company focuses on creating products that reflect its identity while meeting evolving customer needs.
There’s no doubt that Bocorocco’s customer-first philosophy has paid off. The company now operates more than 40 retail locations across Indonesia, including eight standalone boutiques. Customers can also shop through its website and official marketplace stores, which offer international shipping, extending the brand's reach well beyond Java.
Sourcing specialized materials globally
For Bocorocco, comfort begins long before a customer slips on a pair of shoes. It starts with sourcing and importing the right materials on strict production timelines. Such supply chain precision is especially important when the brand is launching a new footwear collection. Critical components that arrive late could disrupt production schedules, impact product launches, and ultimately affect the customer experience.
As Bocorocco expands its product range, its sourcing requirements have become increasingly complex. Indonesia produces excellent genuine leather, but premium footwear often requires specialized materials that cannot always be sourced locally. To meet these requirements, the brand sources premium leather from Italy, alongside innovative materials, components, and hardware from China. This international sourcing strategy ensures that every collection meets the quality, durability, and design standards customers expect.
As a result, having a logistics partner that can reliably manage the demands of global sourcing is critical. FedEx’s international freight solutions have become a key enabler of Bocorocco’s supply chain management, helping the company to keep production on track.
The global supply chain behind Bocorocco’s business growth
For time-sensitive shipments that cannot afford delays, Bocorocco relies on FedEx International Priority Freight. This premium air freight service allows the company to move essential materials to production lines in bulk, typically within one to three business days worldwide.
FedEx International Priority Freight offers the benefits of predictable transit times and greater shipment visibility, enabling Bocorocco to plan production more accurately. In addition, FedEx’s cross-border logistics expertise helps the brand to minimize disruptions across its global supply chain and manage the complexities of international shipping.
With FedEx supporting its time-sensitive imports, Bocorocco can coordinate product launches with greater confidence, ensuring that the brand’s commitment to customer comfort extends throughout the fulfillment experience.
What growing brands can learn from Bocorocco
Bocorocco’s growth journey offers useful insights for any Indonesian business that relies on imported materials.
Rather than treating global sourcing as a procurement challenge, the brand views it as a strategic investment in product quality. While managing a global supply chain comes with complexities, Bocorocco’s experience shows the value of choosing suppliers and logistics partners you can trust, building long-term relationships with them, and planning ahead.
By combining decades of footwear expertise with dependable access to global materials through FedEx, the brand is well-positioned to continue innovating while providing a great customer experience at every step.
