The Effective Date of this Privacy Policy is set forth above. FedEx reserves the right to amend this Privacy Policy at any time with or without notice. Changes in the Privacy Policy become effective thirty (30) days after the first posting of any revised version. To stay abreast of these changes, please regularly check our Privacy Policy. FedEx understands the importance of protecting the privacy of recipients and users of FedEx digital communications. This Privacy Policy applies to: individually identifiable information about you ("Personal Information") that we collect via sites that link to this policy, including fedex.com, senseaware.com, FedEx mobile applications, and via FedEx-controlled widgets embedded in communication platforms, e.g., within Facebook or Twitter (collectively, “FedEx Digital Platforms”) and data about your computer or mobile device collected in connection with your use of the FedEx Digital Platforms ("Device Data"). Personal Information that may be collected may include name, physical and mailing address, email address, billing information, business profile, telephone number, credit/debit card number, purchasing history and product and service preferences.

FedEx uses the information collected via the FedEx Digital Platforms to:

  • market and improve FedEx services,
  • transact business with FedEx customers,
  • improve the FedEx Digital Platforms and the content distributed through them,
  • contact you with updates to and information about the FedEx Digital Platforms and FedEx services and activities, to help with fraud identification,
  • conduct other FedEx marketing, promotional and informational activities,
  • identify the type of digital and other content, messaging and information visitors to the FedEx Digital Platforms value most, assess and monitor certain user experience, and
  • perform other activities as described in this Privacy Policy, and
  • help FedEx understand the efficacy of the content, messaging and information provided through the FedEx Digital Platforms.


Your use of the FedEx Digital Platforms constitutes your agreement to FedEx's use of your information as described in this Privacy Policy If you choose not to provide Personal Information or Device Data, FedEx may not be able provide you with the products, services and information that it offers.

Certain features, including but not limited to FedEx Ship Manager® at fedex.com, FedEx InSight®, FedEx Return Manager®, FedEx® Billing Online, and FedEx® Global Trade Manager and My FedEx Rewards require registration or a password for access, or may require other information to use the FedEx Digital Platforms. Information obtained from registered users of these areas may also be used for the purposes stated in this Privacy Policy, and cookies may be used in those and other areas, as is described in this Privacy Policy. Information obtained in these areas may also be used in accordance with agreements governing access to and use of the specific areas, including but not limited to FedEx Ship Manager at fedex.com, FedEx Return Manager, etc. In addition, visitors to fedex.com may choose to register for a fedex.com Login user ID and password to simplify access to some interactive features on fedex.com.

Fedex.com login currently provides users with access to several FedEx applications such as FedEx Ship Manager at fedex.com and FedEx® Global Trade Manager. Other applications require separate registrations. In the future, FedEx may add other features to those accessed through fedex.com login.


Privacy Policy for FedEx Digital Platforms: Frequently Asked Questions


1. Package Tracking

If you are the recipient of a package, we have obtained your name and shipping information from a customer. When you visit fedex.com to track your package in transit, we collect your IP address and other information about you, as we do with other visitors to the Web site. You do not need to register with fedex.com to obtain tracking information about your package. Please also see the applicable FedEx operating company website, e.g., FedEx Ground, FedEx Freight etc. and/or FedEx Service Guide for terms of carriage, limitations of liability, and disclaimers of warranty and general terms applicable to FedEx services and various information used and provided with FedEx services.


2. What Device Data does FedEx capture about visitors to FedEx Digital Platforms?

The FedEx Digital Platforms use an extended log file format which may capture among other things: date and time of visit including date/time of messaging and content click and open, referring address (location from which a visitor comes to the FedEx Digital Platforms), referring promotional campaign information (including country and language thereof), date and time stamp thereof, type of email or other digital client used, operating system used, Internet browser used, and visitor's IP/ other non-personal identifiers. Each computer and device that connects to the FedEx Digital Platforms is assigned a unique number, an IP address, country/language, date/timestamp, screen size, meta-tags, and FedEx first party cookie and third party cookies.


3. Does FedEx ask for Personal Information?

Several areas of the FedEx Digital Platforms, including fedex.com, may ask for Personal Information. They currently include: Online Account Registration, features of Manage My Account, and registration pages for FedEx Ship Manager at fedex.com, FedEx Global Trade Manager, FedEx Return Manager, and FedEx InSight. This list may be expanded without notice. In the event that it is expanded, additional information may be required.

Our policy is not to give, sell or otherwise distribute the Personal Information collected to third parties outside of FedEx (unless required by law) to allow such third parties to conduct their own marketing activities for their own benefit; provided, however, in some cases we may use suppliers to assist us in collecting, using or otherwise processing for our benefit the information obtained for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, including market research. Our practice is to require our suppliers to conduct such activities consistent with this policy and our requirements. In addition, your Personal Information may be combined with non-personal information to customize your FedEx experience on The FedEx Digital Platforms and on third party sites.


4. How does SenseAware work and what data does FedEx collect through SenseAware?

SenseAware consists of GPS enabled sensor devices that allow SenseAware customers to track their packages in transit, including the location and internal conditions (humidity, light/dark, and the like). FedEx provides this information to SenseAware customers for their use.


5. What happens when I leave a Digital Platform to visit a FedEx linked Web site?

A cookie is a series of data characters that, when programmed into a web site, is placed by the web server into the browser's application folder on your computer. Once placed onto your machine, the cookie will allow the FedEx Digital Platforms to "recognize" your computer or mobile device.

A cookie may also be combined with a web beacon, which is an invisible image with a line of code which is placed within an email message or on a web page. Web beacons inform FedEx if an intended recipient can receive email in an HTML format or only as a text message, whether the email message has been open or opened multiple times, and if a display ad has been viewed or clicked through. This information is used to serve customized messaging to visitors to the FedEx Digital Platforms. Web beacons do not create, modify or delete files on a user's machine. Since they are not executable, they cannot provide means for the delivery of dangerous content such as malware or viruses. These technologies allow FedEx to receive and store certain information when you visit a FedEx Digital Platform through a computer or mobile device. Device Data captured through these technologies may include the geo-location of your computer or mobile device, information about the specific pages you viewed while on the site, the sequencing and duration of your views on those pages, the type of computer or mobile hardware you used to access the site, and the IP address of the hardware.

In addition to the information provided above, cookies are used to achieve several goals. The first is to provide FedEx with the capability to personalize information for visitors to the FedEx Digital Platforms. Cookies can also help us recognize you as a previous visitor and remember any preferences that may have been set when you previously visited our Web site using the same browser.

In some instances, cookies are used to allow FedEx the opportunity to associate individual customers with their information profiles. For example, through the use of cookies, fedex.com Login can "remember" your user ID when you login to FedEx Ship Manager at fedex.com on your computer. Personal Information may also be combined with Device Data to provide you with more customized content on the FedEx Digital Platforms and advertisements on other sites across the Internet. For example, when you access a page on the FedEx Digital Platforms, a cookie is automatically set by us, or our service providers to recognize your browser as you navigate on the Internet and to present you with information and advertising based on your apparent interests and about FedEx. Where we combine Device Data and Personal Information, we treat all such data as Personal Information.


6. What are cookies and web beacons, and how does FedEx use them?

Certain components of the FedEx Digital Platforms consist of or include products and services hosted by third-party businesses. When you access one of these third-party components, the only information transferred to the third-party is the fact that you came from a FedEx Digital Platform. This practice allows the third-party to monitor its own website traffic, but does not provide them with any information about you, other than as stated above. Once you leave a FedEx Digital Platform, the third-party may monitor its own website traffic and may install other cookies or web beacons in order to collect information about you. FedEx is not responsible or liable for the independent activities or privacy policies at third-party sites. You should consult the privacy policies and other terms and conditions at those sites to determine how your information may be used and the practices of those third party sites.


7. Can cookies be removed from my hard drive?

Yes, cookies can be removed from your hard drive. Also, depending on what type of web browser and what browser version you are using, you may be able to change the properties on your cookie file so that cookies are not used or saved. Please check with your browser provider for more information on removing cookies. Please note that if you refuse to accept cookies, you may not be able to access many of the tools offered on or through the FedEx Digital Platforms.


8. Does FedEx use my Personal Information for advertising?

Yes. FedEx combines Personal Information that we obtain from registrations with Device Data gathered through cookies and other technologies about your searches and other activities on the FedEx Digital Platforms. We may also receive similar non-personal information from third party advertisers or other sources. We use this information for the purposes stated in this Privacy Policy. As noted above, where we combine Device Data and other information with Personal Information, we treat all such data as Personal Information.


9. Does FedEx use advertising companies to serve ads on third party Internet sites?

Yes, FedEx uses select advertising companies to serve relevant FedEx ads on third party Internet sites. Currently FedEx uses Google (and its affiliates like DoubleClick), Adobe, Accuen, Salesforce, and Facebook. FedEx does not provide any Personal Information to these advertising companies to allow them to use such data for their own purposes, or for the benefit of any other party. These advertising companies may, however, place their own cookies or third party cookies on your browser to personalize your FedEx related experience on third party sites.

You can choose not to allow these advertising companies to use their cookies to serve you ads on third party Internet sites. 10. Social media sharing

Your use of social media platforms such as twitter, facebook, etc., are governed by separate terms and conditions over which FedEx has no control. However, when a customer uses their social media login to access the FedEx Digital Platforms, they explicitly agree to allow FedEx access to certain components of their social media pages where they may share comments and other Personal Information about themselves. FedEx uses widgets on these sites to collect information such as your IP address, the pages that you visited at FedEx.com and to determine if the social media components of the site performed properly. These widgets are hosted either directly on the FedEx.com site or by the third party provider.


11. In what other ways does FedEx share information?

We may also share your information in response to subpoenas, court orders, or other legal process; to establish or exercise our legal rights; to defend against legal claims; or as otherwise required by law. In such cases we reserve the right to raise or waive any legal objection or right available to us.

When we believe it is appropriate to investigate, prevent, or take action regarding illegal or suspected illegal activities; to protect and defend the rights, property, or safety of our company or this Web site, our customers, or others; and in connection with our Terms of Service and other agreements.

We may share your information in connection with a corporate transaction, such as a divestiture, merger, consolidation, or asset sale, or in the unlikely event of bankruptcy.

If you received an email from us, (a) your email address is either listed with us as someone who has expressly shared this address for the purpose of receiving information in the future ("opt-in"), or (b) you have registered with us, purchased a product or service from us, or otherwise have an existing relationship with us.

FedEx periodically sends email messages and promotions to customers for purposes stated in this Privacy Policy.

Each commercial email sent contains an easy, automated way for you to stop receiving email from us, or to change your expressed interests.

    In principle, when the purposes of collecting and using personal information are achieved, such information will be destroyed in a timely manner, as described in the following paragraph. In the event that Customers give FedEx notice that they withdraw their consent to the collection of personal information or request the deletion thereof, the personal information will be destroyed in a timely manner. However, if any personal information is required to be retained under applicable laws and regulations, including the Korean Commercial Code and the Act on the Consumer Protection in Electronic Commerce, etc., the personal information will be retained and used for the period and purpose as prescribed under such laws and regulations.

    1. When destroying personal information, the Company will take commercially reasonable and technically possible measures to make the personal information irrecoverable or irreproducible as follows:

B. Management and supervision of the delegatee

When entering into the relevant services agreement with a delegatee, the Company will make commercially reasonable efforts to require the delegatees to comply with applicable privacy related laws and regulations in relevant documents.

A Customer may make the following requests as an information principal: (i) access to his/her personal information, (ii) correction or deletion of his/her personal information, or (iii) suspension of processing of his/her personal information. The legal representative of a child under 14 may make the foregoing request on behalf of such child.

When requested as above, the Company will check whether the requesting party is the information principal or an authorized representative. The Company may reject such request if there exists a justifiable reason for rejection under applicable laws or a reason equivalent thereto

  • Managerial measures for the protection of personal information
    1. The Company will designate a Chief Privacy Officer (“CPO”) to ensure that Customers’ personal information is processed according to the law, and will establish and implement an internal management plan for doing so.
    2. The Company will establish and implement personal information protection education plans for its employees, delegatees and others who are directly in charge of processing personal information.
    3. The Company will periodically conduct an internal audit to verify personal information protection, in accordance with the internal management plan. 
  • Technical measures for the protection of personal information 
    1. The Company will control access to personal information, and will restrict and manage the access right.
    2. The Company will record the details of the management of access right to personal information, and will retain such records for a certain period of time.
    3. The Company will install and operate an intrusion blocking/prevention system to prevent any unauthorized access to personal information. In addition, a safe access measures, including a virtual private network, will be applied to control the access from the outside.
    4. The Company will establish and apply password generation rules to enable Customers to set up and use a secure password. Upon designating a password to access a certain area of this website, Customers are obligated to keep the password confidential and must not disclose it to a third party.
    5. At the time of transmitting, receiving and saving personal information, including sensitive information and unique ID information, the Company will take encryption measures required under applicable laws and regulations.
    6. The Company will install and periodically update programs to fix security defects in software, including operating systems.
    7. The Company will keep the records of access to the personal information processing system in a safe manner for a certain period of time.
  • Physical measures for the protection of personal information
    The Company will take physical access prevention measures, including restrictions on access and placing locks, to store personal information kept by way of hard copy in a safe manner.

The Company may provide a link of another website which is not controlled by the Company. The Company will not be held liable for such linked websites. In the event that Customers move away from this website, the Company will not be liable for protection and privacy of the information provided by Customers. Customers should carefully review the rules on protection of personal information which applies to the relevant websites. When providing a link, the Company will make commercially reasonable efforts to inform that Customers are transferred from this website to other sites.

The Company may use cookies, including but not limited to session/persistent cookies and web beacons, for a certain website of the Company. A cookie is a file which saves the history of Customers’ having visited this website from their computer and informs the Company of the history. A cookie may help the Company identify Customers’ website preferences, adjust this website according to their preferences and measure the degree of usage of this website.

Once Customers access this website, the Company may use cookies to provide targeted marketing services or personalized services, etc. by analyzing frequency of access, visit time, etc., tracing Customers, and obtaining information on event participation and frequency of visit, etc.

Customers have an option to install cookies. To report on any other personal information infringement and consultation, Customers may contact the Personal Information Dispute Mediation Committee, E-Privacy, High-Tech Crime Investigation Division, Supreme Prosecutors’ Office and/or Cyber Terrorism Response Center, National Police Agency.

The Company’s Customer Services Department will be in charge of collecting the opinions of its Customers regarding protection of personal information and handling complaints related to their personal information. The country manager of the Customer Services Department is designated as CPO for purposes of Customers’ personal information. Customers may file any complaints related to protection of their personal information which may arise in the course of using the Company’s services to the CPO or the Customer Services Department at the following contact.
