Why am I being charged an "Oversize Charge" fee on my invoice?

An oversize charge is applied to a shipment that includes packages exceeding certain dimensions. This surcharge applies to a package that:

  1. exceeds 243 centimeters in its longest side; or
  2. exceeds 330 centimeters in length* and girth (L+2W+2H); or
  3. measures greater than 50kg in actual weight; or
  4. has a cubic volume (L x W x H) greater than 283,168 cubic centimeters.

If a FedEx package is subject to an Oversize Charge, and also meets the criteria for Additional Handling Surcharge – Dimension, the Additional Handling Surcharge – Dimension minimum billable weight of 18kg will still apply.

Please note that package shape and dimensions may change during transit, which can affect the package's surcharge eligibility. FedEx may make appropriate adjustments to the shipment charges accordingly.

For more information about this surcharge, including applicable rates and guidelines, please download the ‘FedEx Surcharge and Other information’ PDF from our other surcharges page.

If you have any concerns or wish to dispute this charge, you can log in to FedEx Billing Online using your fedex.com User ID and submit a dispute by selecting "Incorrect Charge" dispute type via the dispute tracking ID page.

Please refer to our guide for steps on how to submit a dispute.

*Length refers to the measurement of the longest side of a package.
