FedEx Cares is an annual global volunteering program where FedEx team members and their families donate their personal time and effort in giving back to their local communities. In its fifth consecutive year in India, FedEx team members participated in various activities focused on the environment and community.

The campaign has grown from 5 cities in 2011 to 34 cities across India in 2015. Over 1,700 FedEx team members across 34 cities in India were involved in community outreach activities, clocking more than 5,000 hours of volunteer work. Globally, more than 10,000 team members around the world have contributed nearly 55,000 volunteer hours by participating in a range of community initiatives to show how much FedEx cares, and help make a difference in the lives of others.

This initiative is part of a tradition begun by FedEx in 2005 that has since expanded to nearly 500 global communities in which its team members live and work. The company’s annual giving campaign provides support in the form of money and muscle to hundreds of non-profit organizations.

FedEx volunteers contributed to a number of projects across India:

  • Organized and participated in blood donation drives
  • Visited orphanages and spent time with children
  • Initiated tree planting and cleanliness drive
  • Donated essential commodities, books and stationary items

During the recent Chennai floods, FedEx team members came forward to support with disaster relief efforts. FedEx also worked with an international relief organization and utilized its global logistics network to support people in need by providing critical relief supplies and services to communities impacted by this disaster.

In addition to thousands of volunteer hours invested each year, FedEx donated more than $45 million globally in 2014.

“Team members are passionate about making a difference and the FedEx Cares campaign gives them the opportunity to do so by volunteering in a range of locally organized initiatives”, said David Ross, regional president, FedEx Express Middle East, Indian Subcontinent and Africa. “This year, we recorded 2,016 FedEx volunteers contributing 6,230 hours of their time across the various programs in the region. We will continue to remain committed towards serving communities by encouraging active participation from team members in the next FedEx Cares program”
