Peak Surcharge

We announced a surcharge on our international parcel and freight shipments beginning April 6, 2020, due to the various COVID-19 containment restrictions issued in countries around the world.

Due to continued disruptions in the global supply chain, air cargo capacity remains limited. We are incurring incremental costs as we continue to adjust our international networks and operate in this constrained environment.

While Peak Surcharge evolves over time based on several factors such as pressure on network capacity, demand, and operating costs, we remain committed to provide you only the best possible service.

Effective April 25, 2022, we are implementing the following peak surcharge changes:

  • For freight shipments from Europe to China, an increased surcharge from 0.33 USD to 2.44 USD per kilo begins April 25, 2022

The Peak Surcharge will be reflected on your invoice.

Why is FedEx instituting a surcharge during a global health crisis?

Due to continued disruptions in the global supply chain, air cargo capacity remains limited. We are incurring incremental costs as we continue to adjust our international networks and operate in this constrained environment. This surcharge will allow us to continue providing service as effectively as possible until global market conditions improve.

How long will the surcharge remain in effect?

This surcharge will apply until further notice. We will evaluate this surcharge on an ongoing basis. Market conditions are shifting rapidly due to continued disruptions in the global supply chain. Our priority is to continue providing the best possible service to our customers during this period, and this surcharge allows us to do that.
