How to avoid packing mistakes

Use the right box
If the box you’re using to ship your goods is wet or weak, the contents of your shipment are at a greater risk of damage. So make sure you use a strong, good quality box.

You need to have the right size box – it’s recommended you choose a box slightly larger than the goods you’re shipping so there’s room for protective packing material like wadded paper or packing peanuts.

There should be no gaps in the box as this may cause the contents of the shipment to move around in transit and get damaged. But don’t overpack the box as this will weaken it.

Seal the box correctly
Avoid just taping the top and instead use the H-taping method. That way each seam is covered and your box won’t open during transportation.

Ensure the label is readable
Unreadable labels could result in your shipment being delayed. So make sure the label is legible and clear.

Put a backup label inside the package. Then place the other label on top of the box and not over the seams as this could tear it.

Remove labels from recycled boxes
For reused boxes, make sure there are no leftover labels from previous shipments on it. This can cause confusion and can, again, result in your shipment being delayed.

Make sure your box is stackable
If there’s a bulge at the top or bottom of the box, it won’t be stackable. So make sure all the surfaces of the box are flat.

Follow the arrows of the box
If your box has arrows, make you sure to stack the package following their direction.

Use a pallet for heavy shipments
If you’re sending a large or heavy shipment, use a pallet.
