Mexico simplified shipment form
On April 7, 2025, the Mexican government published regulatory provisions that modify simplified customs clearance, adding incremental information requirements for e-commerce transactions for express shipments that will be imported into Mexico. The regulatory modifications were enforced on April 8, 2025, while the new information requirements were enforced on May 1, 2025.
As indicated in our RegAlert dated October 17, 2024, shippers sending merchandise to Mexico cleared under a simplified entry (Pedimento Clave T1) will be required to provide additional and more detailed information about their shipments, including:
A precise description of the products (generic descriptions such as “diverse items”, “miscellaneous items”, “gift”, “courtesy”, or any other that does not allow the identification of the merchandise are not admissible, whether in Spanish or any other language).
Complete and accurate names, full delivery address, RFC (Registro Federal de Contribuyentes, Mexican Tax ID) or CURP (in lieu of RFC whenever the consignee does not have one), and consignees’ phone number are mandatory (e-mail is also mandatory only when the shipment originates on an e-commerce platform). If consignees are foreign tourists, they must provide either their Social Security Number, or their home country TaxID, or their passport number.
Failure to comply with these information requirements, the shipments could be returned to origin at shipper’s expense or abandoned in favor of the National Customs Agency of Mexico (ANAM).
