The following surcharge changes will take effect Jan. 20, 2020*

Additional Handling Surcharge

Express Package and Ground Services

A surcharge applies to any package that:

(Dimension)

1) measures greater than 48 inches along its longest side
2) measures greater than 30 inches along its second-longest side

(Weight)

3) has an actual weight greater than 70 lbs.

(Packaging)

  • The surcharge for Weight will apply to FedEx Express® U.S. domestic and FedEx Ground® U.S. domestic packages if a package has an actual weight greater than 50 lbs.
  • The surcharge for Weight will continue to apply to FedEx Express U.S. export shipments and International Ground packages if a package has an actual weight greater than 70 lbs.
  • The surcharge for Weight will now apply to U.S. import-rated shipments if a package has an actual weight greater than 70 lbs.
  • The surcharge for Dimension and Packaging will now apply to U.S. import-rated shipments.
  • The surcharge for Dimension and Packaging will continue to apply to FedEx Express package services and FedEx Ground shipments.

Additional Handling Surcharge – Freight

Express Freight Services

A surcharge applies to any freight handling unit that measures greater than 70 inches along its longest side.

  • The surcharge will apply to FedEx Express U.S. domestic freight and FedEx Express U.S. export freight shipments if a freight handling unit measures greater than 62 inches along its longest side.
  • The surcharge will now apply to U.S. import-rated shipments if a freight handling unit measures greater than 62 inches along its longest side.

Oversize Charge

U.S. Express Package Services, U.S. Ground Services, International Ground Service

An oversize charge applies to packages that exceed 96 inches in length or 130 inches in length and girth. Rating will be based on the greater of the package's actual rounded weight or dimensional weight, subject to a 90-lb. minimum billable weight.

  • For FedEx Express U.S. international shipments, the surcharge will now apply but these shipments will not be subject to a 90-lb. minimum billable weight.
  • The surcharge and 90-lb. minimum billable weight will continue to apply to FedEx Express U.S. domestic, U.S. Ground and International Ground shipments.

FedEx Freight Capacity Load

FedEx Freight

The minimum charge applies to freight that exceeds 20,000 lbs. or utilizes a linear length of 20 feet or more.

  • The minimum charge will apply to freight that exceeds 15,000 lbs. or utilizes a linear length of 15 feet or more.
