The following surcharge changes will take effect in 2021*

Additional Handling Surcharge Express Package and Ground Services A surcharge applies to any package that: (Dimension) 1) measures greater than 48 inches along its longest side; 2) measures greater than 30 inches along its second-longest side; (Weight) 3) has an actual weight greater than 50 lbs. (FedEx U.S. Express Package Services and U.S. Ground Services) 4) has an actual weight greater than 70 lbs. (FedEx International Express Package Services and International Ground Services) (Packaging) Please consult the FedEx Service Guide for full list of criteria. |
Effective Jan. 18, 2021, a surcharge applies to any Express and Ground package that measures greater than 105 inches in length and girth — the length and girth is length plus (two times the height) plus (two times the width). The following was added to the existing criteria under the Dimension heading.

High Cost Service Area Surcharge

Effective Jan. 18, 2021, there will be a FedEx Freight High Cost Service Area Surcharge The surcharge applies to any shipment that is not rated on the below list of transportation rates, if the origin ZIP code and/or the destination ZIP code of the shipment are on a select list of U.S. ZIP codes.

International Out-of-Delivery-Area Surcharge and International Out-of-Pickup-Area Surcharge

Effective Jan. 18, 2021, certain international shipments to/from the U.S. are assessed an International Out-of-Delivery-Area Surcharge or an International Out-of-Pickup-Area Surcharge for International Express Freight services based on ZIP code location of the pick-up or delivery. See the International Out-of-Delivery-Area Surcharge and International Out-of-Pickup-Area Surcharge ZIP code changes PDF for a list of the ZIP codes where these surcharges apply. These U.S. locations are in addition to the international postal codes or locations where these surcharges already apply. |
Fuel Surcharge for U.S. Domestic Express Freight

Effective Feb. 1, 2021, the fuel surcharge for U.S. Domestic Express Freight services is a charge per pound assessed on the rated weight of the shipment. The charge per pound is subject to weekly adjustment based on the weekly published U.S. Gulf Coast (USGC) spot price for a gallon of kerosene-type jet fuel.
