FedEx Dangerous Goods Training
The federal government requires every dangerous goods shipper to have job-specific dangerous goods training before tendering a dangerous goods shipment to FedEx or any air carrier. Shippers are directly responsible for the correct transport of dangerous goods by air.
The government regulations state:
- Each person involved in the shipping and/or handling of dangerous goods must be trained.
- Recurrent training must occur every two years. Exception: In the U.S., the Department of Transportation (DOT), as competent authority, allows training for shippers every three years.
- An enforcement agency may review your training records at any time.
Why Select FedEx Dangerous Goods Training
In talking with our DG training customers, we’ve identified three primary reasons why they choose FedEx to complete their federally-required Dangerous Goods training:

FedEx offers four types of Dangerous Goods seminars:
|3-Day Dangerous Goods Seminar||A three-day comprehensive class that covers all aspects of shipping dangerous goods by air, including general familiarization and fundamentals, identification, classification, packaging, marking, labeling, and documentation. This class is designed not only for initial training but for recurrent training as well. (Radioactive materials training is not included in this class.)
Topics typically covered at our 3-day seminar:
|1-Day Dangerous Goods "Recurrent" Seminar||This class was created in response to numerous requests from many of our shippers. It is specifically designed for the experienced shipper. It covers the same general awareness and familiarization training but at a more advanced pace. There is, however, a prerequisite. In order to attend this class the participant MUST have attended a FedEx Express dangerous goods seminar within the past two years. Proof of attendance is required. (Radioactive materials training is not included in this class.)|
|1-Day Radioactive Materials Seminar||A one-day comprehensive class that covers all aspects of shipping radioactive materials by air, including general familiarization, identification, classification, packaging, marking, labeling and documentation.|
|Private “On-site” Seminars||FedEx can leverage our vast Dangerous Goods expertise to customize a unique 1, 2 or 3 day training experience to meet your organization’s specific needs. The on-site DG seminars are a popular and cost-effective way for large organizations to ensure that all employees who handle dangerous goods receive consistent training in Dangerous Goods handling and shipping procedures.
