FedEx Drivers Earn 35 State Truck Driving Championship Titles
A total of 35 drivers representing FedEx Corp. (NYSE: FDX) operating companies earned state titles at truck driving championships (TDCs) held in Alaska, California, Delaware, Kentucky, Maine, North Carolina, New Mexico, Ohio, South Dakota and Wisconsin, May 18-20.
Through 20 state events in 2018, Team FedEx has had 73 drivers win state titles. The state champions have each earned an opportunity to compete at the American Trucking Associations’ National Truck Driving Championships and National Step Van Driving Championships (NTDC & NSVDC) Aug. 15-18 in Columbus, Ohio.
The state TDCs along with the NTDC and NSVDC provide professional truck drivers with an opportunity to demonstrate their driving skills and safety expertise. Championships encompass three parts – a challenging driving course, a pre-trip inspection and a written examination which covers vehicle operation and knowledge of federal safety regulations.
In 2017, 173 driving professionals from all 50 states and representing FedEx Express, FedEx Freight and FedEx Ground qualified to compete at the national championships by winning their respective state’s competition, and driving accident-free for at least the previous year.
