R. Brad Martin is executive chairman and chairman of the Board of Directors of FedEx Corporation, a role he assumed in September 2025. A member of the FedEx Board of Directors since 2011, he previously served as vice chairman. In his current role, he provides strategic leadership and governance oversight of the company’s global operations.
Martin is a seasoned business leader with decades of experience guiding major public companies across diverse industries.
For 17 years, Martin was chairman and chief executive officer of Saks Inc., a leading luxury retail company, and continued as chairman until his retirement in 2007. He previously served as chairman of the Board of Directors of Chesapeake Energy Corp. from 2015 to 2021. From 2021 to 2022, he served as chairman and CEO of Riverview Acquisition Corp., an investment company that successfully merged with Westrock Coffee Company in August 2022. He is currently a member of the Board of Directors of Westrock Coffee Company.
Throughout his distinguished career, Martin has served in leadership roles and on the boards of numerous other public companies, including First Horizon National Corp., Caesars Entertainment Corp., Dillard’s Inc., Gaylord Entertainment Company, lululemon athletica Inc., and Ruby Tuesday Inc.
In his commitment to serving the community, Martin was the interim president of the University of Memphis from July 2013 to May 2014. He also served five terms in the Tennessee House of Representatives.
Martin holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Memphis, a Master of Business Administration from Vanderbilt University, and an honorary doctor of letters from the University of Memphis.
