FedEx® DG Ready

FedEx® DG Ready

Be confident your dangerous goods or hazardous materials shipment is ready.

Overview

When preparing dangerous goods or hazardous materials shipments, be aware of potential documentation errors before you ship. Simply choose a FedEx DG Ready software solution and enter your dangerous goods declaration or hazardous materials shipping paper information online. Your software solution will electronically transmit the data to FedEx for preliminary validation and acceptance before you start shipping.1 If there’s an error, your FedEx DG Ready software solution will notify you so you can correct it. Once your shipment receives preliminary validation, you’re ready to complete other requirements, label your package and ship your product.

Get Help With Shipping Requirements

Dangerous goods declarations and hazardous materials shipments must meet many regulatory requirements beyond the declaration or shipping paper. A FedEx DG Ready software solution can also provide guidance for packaging, marking and labeling shipments — and offers other convenient features.2 When you’re choosing a FedEx DG Ready solution, check to see what additional guidance and features are available.

Integrate Your System to Reduce Errors and Save Time

Save valuable preparation time and avoid duplicate data entry by integrating your system with a FedEx DG Ready solution and implementing the new label generation options available in FedEx Web Services and FedEx Ship Manager® Server.3 A fully integrated system ensures your FedEx shipping labels match the requirements of the specific dangerous goods declaration or hazardous materials shipping paper for your shipment.

Frequently Asked Questions

Choose a FedEx DG Ready software solution to complete your dangerous goods declaration or hazardous materials shipping paper online. Your software solution will electronically transmit the data to FedEx for preliminary validation and acceptance before you ship.1 If there’s an error or missing data, your FedEx DG Ready software solution notifies you so you can fix it. Once your shipment receives preliminary validation, you’re ready to complete other dangerous goods and hazardous materials shipping requirements, label and ship.

A FedEx DG Ready software solution can give you added confidence that your dangerous goods or hazardous materials shipment is ready to ship via FedEx Express, FedEx Ground or FedEx Freight. Your software solution can electronically transmit your data to FedEx for preliminary validation and alert you about errors before you offer your dangerous goods or hazardous materials shipment to FedEx.

The FedEx DG Ready program is an electronic preinspection shipping aid that greatly reduces the chances that your FedEx Express® dangerous goods or FedEx Ground® hazardous materials shipment will be rejected due to an improperly prepared dangerous goods declaration or hazardous materials shipping paper. The program cannot guarantee the absence of all declaration or shipping paper errors or other errors that may ultimately cause a shipment to be rejected upon FedEx final physical inspection. Individuals tendering a shipment containing dangerous goods or hazardous materials are responsible for ensuring the shipment is properly classified, packaged, marked, labeled and identified as dangerous goods or hazardous materials, and includes the correct documentation.

You do not have to use a FedEx DG Ready software solution. You can continue to use your current provider or your current process as long as it meets current FedEx Express, FedEx Ground or FedEx Freight requirements. However, you won’t have the same level of confidence that your dangerous goods or hazardous materials shipment is ready to ship via FedEx Express, FedEx Ground or FedEx Freight. You might not be alerted to errors before you ship that can cause delays and last-minute surprises.

As the shipper, you are required to be trained to handle dangerous goods or hazardous materials shipments. Receiving training and maintaining your certification are your responsibility.

3FedEx DG Ready shipping transaction options are available only with FedEx Web Services and FedEx Ship Manager Server versions 2016 or later releases. Not all FedEx compatible third-party shipping solutions may offer access to FedEx DG Ready shipping transaction options. FedEx DG Ready shipping transactions are currently available for most FedEx Express dangerous goods and FedEx Ground hazardous materials services. FedEx DG Ready shipping transaction options are not available for dangerous goods or hazardous materials services that can be shipped using only a manual airbill, manual shipping label or Bill of Lading, such as FedEx International Premium Freight services, FedEx Ground Package Returns Program (preapproved hazardous materials shippers only) and all FedEx Freight LTL  hazardous materials shipments. Customers shipping dangerous goods or hazardous materials on a manual (nonautomated) airbill or Bill of Lading can still use a FedEx DG Ready solution as an electronic preinspection shipping aid but must manually enter the tracking number from their shipping document into the FedEx DG Ready software solution.
