Services agreement

Pickup at FedEx Freight service center

Service center customer pickup will include scheduled customer pickup at the FedEx Freight service centers at specified locations. Line haul transportation must be provided by FedEx Freight to the service center.  Service center customer pickup times will be Monday thru Friday from 8 a.m. until local close of business (varies by location), based on service center discretion. Service centers will load the item(s), and the customer will be responsible for the transportation and security of the item(s).   

 

FedEx Freight Direct Basic

FedEx Freight Direct Basic will include no appointment delivery of item(s) to (i) the front door, back door, backyard, garage, or patio; or (ii) curbside, as specified in consignee’s delivery instructions. Delivery inside to a room or area that requires traversing greater than one flight of stairs will require an upgrade to FedEx Freight Direct Standard or Premium.  FedEx Freight Direct Basic will not include debris removal, inside delivery, any floor above or below ground level (beyond one flight of stairs), or installation. FedEx Freight Direct Basic may be provided by third-party vendors certified by FedEx Freight.

Shipments to residential addresses may be released without obtaining a signature. If you require a signature for a residential shipment to the door, select FedEx Freight Direct Basic by Appointment.

 

FedEx Freight Direct Basic by Appointment

FedEx Freight Direct Basic By Appointment will include appointment delivery of item(s) to (i) front door, back door, backyard, garage, or patio; or (ii) curbside, as specified in consignee’s delivery instructions. Delivery inside to a room or area that requires traversing greater than one flight of stairs will require an upgrade to FedEx Freight Direct Standard or Premium. FedEx Freight Direct Basic By Appointment will not include debris removal, inside delivery, any floor above or below ground level (beyond one flight of stairs), or installation. FedEx Freight Direct Basic By Appointment may be provided by third-party vendors. In the event of a missed appointment by the consignee, FedEx will leave a door tag at the entrance with instructions on how to reschedule delivery. Additional charges may apply.

 

FedEx Freight Direct Standard

FedEx Freight Direct Standard will include delivery of item(s) to (i) the first available living space of the residence; (ii) the backyard, garage, or patio; or (iii) curbside, as specified in customer’s delivery instructions. Delivery to a room or area that requires traversing up to a maximum of one flight of stairs will be included in FedEx Freight Direct Standard to the extent such delivery can be safely accomplished. Delivery to a room or area that requires traversing greater than one flight of stairs will require an upgrade to FedEx Freight Direct Premium. FedEx Freight Direct Standard will not include debris removal, any floor above or below ground level (beyond one flight of stairs), or installation. FedEx Freight Direct Standard may be provided by third-party vendors certified by FedEx Freight. In the event of a missed appointment by the consignee, FedEx will leave a door tag at the entrance with instructions on how to reschedule delivery. Additional charges may apply.

 

FedEx Freight Direct Premium

FedEx Freight Direct Premium will include item(s) delivered into the home to the room of choice of the consignee and debris removal upon request. Delivery to a room of choice that requires traversing of stairs will be included in FedEx Freight Direct Premium to the extent such delivery can be safely accomplished. If Carrier or its vendor fails to provide selected FedEx Freight Direct Premium service, Carrier will either 1) return to the consignee location and complete FedEx Freight Direct Premium service; or 2) reduce Carrier’s charges to FedEx Freight Direct Standard service. FedEx Freight Direct Premium may be provided by third-party vendors to FedEx Freight. In the event of a missed appointment by the consignee, FedEx will leave a door tag at the entrance with instructions on how to reschedule delivery. Additional charges may apply.

 

Services upgrade requests

The consignee may request an upgrade to FedEx Freight Direct Premium service if such request is made at or before the time of appointment scheduling. The Customer must approve all such requests in writing to the Carrier or the upgrade request will not be honored by Carrier. If the upgrade is approved by the Customer, applicable charges for FedEx Freight Direct Premium service will apply to and be paid by the Customer.

*For any FedEx Freight Direct Standard shipment that exceeds 150 lbs., the service selection will be upgraded to FedEx Freight Direct Premium with applicable charges to apply.

** Shipments exceeding the specified limits require written preapproval from Carrier before acceptance and may require an upgrade in service and/or an additional charge.

 

Terms and conditions

Tariff

Except as otherwise provided herein, the FXF 100 Series Rules Tariff in effect on the date of shipment will apply to all FedEx Freight Direct shipments. In the event of a conflict between the FXF 100 Series Rules Tariff and this Services Agreement, this Services Agreement shall control. 

 

Liability

Carrier’s liability for loss, damage or delay to a shipment will be as set forth in the FXF 100 Series Rules Tariff. Carrier’s liability for damage to product during set up or assembly will be the same as Carrier’s liability for loss, damage or delay during shipment. Carrier’s liability for failure to provide a FedEx Freight Direct service will be limited to the documented charges paid to Customer by the consignee or other party for the contracted FedEx Freight Direct service. Except as otherwise specifically provided in the FXF 100 Series Rules Tariff solely with respect to money-back guaranteed services (if applicable), Carrier shall not be liable for any damages, direct, indirect or consequential, which are the result of delays in delivery. Carrier shall have no liability for loss or damage to a FedEx Freight Direct Basic shipment after Carrier has delivered the shipment.

Any claim for loss, damage or delay from a consignee must be made to the Customer. Customer should direct all consignees to contact Customer in the event of a claim. Carrier will not honor claims from a consignee.

 

Restrictions

All FedEx Freight Direct Standard and Premium shipments must be shipped via FedEx Freight® Priority service.

Shipments containing hazardous materials, as the term is used and defined in the Hazardous Material Transportation Act, 49 U.S.C. § 5101, et seq., are prohibited from FedEx Freight Direct services. Notwithstanding, Shipments of ORMD are permissible when properly tendered.

Collect on Delivery shipments are prohibited from FedEx Freight Direct services.

All articles listed as Prohibited or Restricted Articles in Item 780 of the FXF 100 Series Rules Tariff then in effect are prohibited from FedEx Freight Direct services.

 

Consignee information

In addition to the consignee delivery address, Customer agrees to provide to Carrier contact information for the consignee including a cell phone number and email address. By providing this information to Carrier, Customer acknowledges that Carrier will contact the consignee regarding the requested FedEx Freight Direct shipment/services. Customer agrees to comply with all applicable laws and regulations in collecting this information from the consignee and providing it to Carrier.

 

Returns

Once delivery has been completed by Carrier, if a consignee desires to return a shipment for any reason, it shall be Customer’s responsibility to address any such return shipment request. Return shipments requested to be performed by Carrier will be under a new bill of lading and governed by the FXF 100 Series Rules Tariff in effect at time of tender, apart from the transportation of the original shipment, and the terms of this Agreement, including pricing, will not apply. Customer should direct all consignees to contact Customer in the event of a return shipment request.

 

Post delivery survey

Carrier may perform a consignee-permitted, post-delivery electronic survey after delivery to further improve Carrier’s delivery experience.

 

FXF 100 Series Rules Tariff, Item 761, Custom Delivery Window, is hereby waived in its entirety.
