Fraudulent Email Samples

Click the types below for examples of common email scams involving the FedEx brand. If you receive any of these or similar communications, do not reply or cooperate with the sender. Learn more about dealing with suspected fraud.

FedEx has received reports that there has been an increase in fraudulent emails claiming to come from FedEx. These messages typically have a vague subject referencing a FedEx tracking, invoice or item number and an attached zip file with 'FEDEXInvoice' in the file name that may contain a computer virus. If you receive a message matching this description do not open the attachment. Delete the email immediately.

ShowPhishing & Spoofed Sites

Phishing emails directing users to spoofed web sites pretend to represent a reputable source, such as FedEx, when in reality they are operated by criminals attempting to commit theft. Spoof Web sites allow scammers to collect user-names, passwords, Social Security numbers, credit card details and more. Many spoofed sites even allow users to log in, giving them a false sense of security.

These fraudulent emails appear to originate from a FedEx employee (e.g. ‘’). The body of the message may contain a fake notice related to FedEx services or may contain only a random phrase or sentence. Be aware, the attachment contained in the email may contain a computer virus. Do not open the attachment. Delete the email immediately.

ShowDelivery Failure (Virus Attached)

Be alert for fraudulent emails claiming to be from FedEx regarding a package that could not be delivered. These emails ask the receiver to open an attachment in order to obtain the airbill or invoice needed to pick up their package. Be aware, the attachment contained in the email may contain a virus. Do not open the attachment. Delete the email immediately.

The frequency of this email tends to increase close to the holiday season, presumably to exploit the growth in shipping volumes.


Subject: Fed Ex Delivery Notification

Unfortunately we were not able to deliver postal package you sent on December the 14 in time because the recipient's address is not correct. Please print out the invoice copy attached and collect the package at our office.



ShowContact Required

This scam relies on the victim contacting the attacker by email or phone to resolve an alleged issue with a FedEx shipment. Once contact is made the attacker uses social engineering techniques to attempt to defraud the victim. The email is typically vague and provides little or no details of the shipment.

ShowBank Draft or Check Scam

The authors of these scam emails typically pretend to be a prior business associate or mysterious benefactor holding a certified check or bank draft in your name, often for a large sum of money. All you have to do to claim it is provide your personal information and pay a small fee. Many such scams attempt to escalate to compromise of your bank account and/or check cashing fraud.

It is the usual practice of our organization to conduct a proper verification of all Parkages that we are to delivered, to ensure that they are valid. Be rest assured that your cheque has been confirmed valid and true and delivery will be made once you have meet the necessary requirements.

The package is registered with us for mailing by the Online Lottery Award Promo Board as claimed, in England, United Kingdom. We are sending you this email because your package is been registered on a Special Order.

ShowATM Card Delivery Scam

These scams involve a new ATM card destined for you, or one you misplaced in the past. As with most scams, they require your personal information and the payment of a small "holding" fee to receive your card.

If you know you won't be able to pay for the safe keeping of your ATM CARD please do not respond back to this email, and your ATM CARD will be return back to the compensation head office which you will not be able to get the ATM CARD again.
