Do I still need to use a customs broker now that CARM is in effect?
Now that CARM is in effect, you can still choose to use a customs broker to manage your commercial importation activities into Canada. If you decide not to use a customs broker, you are required to ‘self-clear’ and account for your imported goods in person with the CBSA at the local office (port of entry) before your goods can be released and delivered or picked up. For more details, please see the CBSA User Guide – Submit a Commercial Accounting Declaration (CAD) for Type C and for all declaration types.
