Privacy Tips

As we work hard to make your online experience safe, you can help by following a few simple tips.

  • Learn to spot fraudulent emails and websites. See the Recognize Fraud section for additional information.
  • Keep your credit card and FedEx account numbers safe. Do not share your account number.
  • Learn about Shipping Administration. The program helps you manage all your shipping activities at fedex.com and more.
  • Use strong passwords. FedEx requires a minimum of eight (8) characters for your fedex.com password. It must contain at least 1 uppercase letter, 1 lowercase letter, and 1 numeric character.
  • Log off of websites and clear the browser cache when you use a public computer.
  • Keep your computer and browser up to date on all security patches.

Secure Website 

To log in to fedex.com, you are required to use a browser that supports 128-bit encryption, which protects your personal and business data. This means that when you are on our secure website, the sensitive data transferred between you and FedEx is encrypted. All current-generation browsers support 128-bit encryption. Simply look for the closed padlock symbol in your browser and the "https" prefix in the URL address. If you are not seeing the padlock symbol, that might mean you are using older technology, and you would need to upgrade your browser. 

VeriSign Extended Validation (EV) Certificates 

Fedex uses Extended Validation certificates from VeriSign to provide additional peace of mind to our customers. Browsers that support EV certificates provide a visual confirmation that indicates the site has undergone additional validation. Browsers without EV support will continue to function on fedex.com but will not present the extended validation indicator. 

Customer Login Protection  

You can only access fedex.com account services and features with a user ID and password. These credentials are securely stored and are known only to you, the customer. Handle your ID and password with care, and never share them with others. 

Protecting Your Account Number    

Shipping Administration is the primary means of managing and protecting your FedEx account. As a shipping administrator, you decide who gets access to your account, and can manage their shipping activities at fedex.com. FedEx recommends that all account owners register online for Shipping AdministationLearn more about the benefits of Shipping Administration.  

Automatic Time-Outs  

For your safety, we automatically log you out after 60 minutes of inactivity and require you to log in again to re-access your account on fedex.com.

Account Number Protection

FedEx may send you, the account owner, an email each time someone else obtains the ability to use your account number for shipping purposes on FedEx Ship Manager® at fedex.com. The email will contain the name of the person who has gained access and a partial account number, as well as other pertinent information.

Protecting Your Account Number  

Shipping Administration is the primary means of managing and protecting your FedEx account. As a shipping administrator, you decide who gets access to your account, and can manage their shipping activities on fedex.com. FedEx recommends that all account owners register online for Shipping Administration. Learn more about the benefits of Shipping Administration. If your account number is not administered through Shipping Administration, FedEx may notify you when anyone associates your account number with their FedEx online login ID and password for shipping purposes. FedEx has built safeguards to help prevent this; however, if someone has the required information, they may still be able to use your account.

Your Responsibility

Report Fraud   

If you believe that the person named in the email should not use your account number, please contact FedEx via email. Please specify that you'd like FedEx to block this person's ability to use your account number, and provide your name and phone number. Alternately, you can contact FedEx at 1.877.339.2774 to address this issue.

Not the Account Owner?   

If you are no longer the owner of the specified account number, please contact FedEx via email and provide relevant information. Please include your name and phone number. Alternately, you can contact FedEx at 1.877.339.2774 to address this issue.

Allow Legitimate Access     

If you receive an email from FedEx and agree that the person named in the email should have the ability to use your account number, you do not have to do anything. You can keep the email for reference purposes or discard it.

Stop Emails 

If you no longer want to receive this kind of email notification, as the account owner, you can register for Shipping Administration. Becoming the shipping administrator allows you to control who has access to your account and provides access to other valuable management tools. Learn more about the benefits of Shipping Administration and how to protect your account.
