Shipping internationally with FedEx is now easier than ever. The new online Guide to Customs Forms and the FedEx Document Preparation Centre at fedex.ca can help you navigating the complexities of international shipping requirements, and make completing customs forms faster and more efficient*.
Online Guide to Customs Forms
Use the online Guide to Customs Forms to learn about the different kinds of export documents that may be required for your international shipments. The online Guide to Custom Forms at fedex.ca provides an overview of some of the most commonly used customs documents.
The "How to Complete it Effectively" section for each form features an image of each form with interactive animated descriptions (see Fig. 1), highlighting areas of the form that shippers often have questions about or complete inaccurately or incorrectly.
The guide also includes information about duties and taxes, declared value, and temporary import bonds, as well as access to other international shipping and customs-related resources available at fedex.ca.

Once you are familiar with the customs forms that may be required for your shipment, you can access and complete forms online at fedex.ca. The Document Preparation Centre at fedex.ca makes completing and managing commonly used customs forms easy. This tool, which replaces FedEx International Document Assistance®, allows you to complete and manage commonly used export forms online.
In addition to being able to complete several forms simultaneously, the FedEx Document Preparation Centre offers enhanced functionality for completing, storing and managing your forms. Access to the features of the FedEx Document Preparation Centre is also integrated into the international shipping process in FedEx Ship Manager™ at fedex.ca.
The Document Preparation Centre is comprised of five tabbed sections to help you quickly and easily complete and manage your customs documents (see Fig. 2):
1 Prepare Documents
- Select the commonly used documents you want to complete online
- Search our entire document library and print blank copies of forms.
2 My Document Profiles
- Create a document profile to save and re-use the customs documents associated with a specific shipment (see Fig. 3).
- Customize your profile view, and searched and sorted by a variety of different fields.
3 Pending Documents
- Save partially completed documents, and retrieve them from the Pending Documents section to finish completing at your convenience.
- Search and sort pending documents by shipper, consignee or document type.
4 Document Archive
- View, edit and manage your completed customs documents.
- Save time by quickly and easily editing or updating existing documents.
5 My Images
- Add your company letterhead to your Commercial Invoices and Pro Forma Invoices.
- Add scanned signature images to forms where signature images are allowed.
Easy Access
- From the Customs Tools menu, click on ‘Go To Document Preparation Centre’.
- From FedEx Ship Manager at fedex.ca, Customs Documentation module in the international shipping workflow, to access existing documents and images.
- From FedEx Ship Manager at fedex.ca, Shipment History to reprint saved documents.
