- The FedEx Ground Brokerage-Inclusive service allows FedEx to arrange for the customs clearance of your FedEx International Ground™ shipment(s). A Clearance Entry Fee may be charged, which will be reflected on your transportation invoice.
- How do I select the FedEx Ground Brokerage-Inclusive service?
- The FedEx Ground Brokerage-Inclusive service is pre-selected on FedEx Ship Manager™ electronic shipping solutions. This displays after you select the FedEx International Ground service and enter your package and customs value details. If you accept such pre-selection, FedEx will arrange for the customs clearance of your FedEx International Ground shipment(s).
- What is the ‘Clearance Entry Fee’ that appears on my FedEx invoice?
- This fee is charged when the FedEx Ground Brokerage-Inclusive service is accepted on FedEx Ship Manager electronic shipping solutions. FedEx will arrange for the customs clearance of your FedEx International Ground shipment(s) and a Clearance Entry Fee may be charged, which will be reflected on your transportation invoice.
Please note that the Clearance Entry Fee may also appear as the 'Clearance Entrance Fee' on your FedEx invoice. - When did FedEx begin to charge the Clearance Entry Fee?
- FedEx began charging this fee with the introduction of FedEx Ground Brokerage-Inclusive service on Sept. 15, 2008.
- How is the Clearance Entry Fee calculated?
- The fee is calculated based on the shipment’s total declared value for customs. For additional information on the fee schedule, see the FedEx Ground rate guide at fedex.ca/rates [Fees are published in the currency of country of import and will be converted into the billing currency at applicable rate of exchange].
- How can I get a quote for the Clearance Entry Fee?
- You can get a quote by using the Courtesy Rate Quote feature on FedEx Ship Manager electronic shipping solutions after you enter all your shipment details, if the FedEx Ground Brokerage-Inclusive service is accepted.
You can also get a courtesy rate quote at fedex.ca. Simply click on the "Ship" tab and select "Get Rates and Transit Times." Complete all the required package details and select “Get Detailed Quote.” Enter additional shipment information and click “Continue”. To see the rate quote, simply place your cursor over FedEx International Ground.
In both instances, the Clearance Entry Fee will appear as a separate line item. - How can I make arrangements to pay for the transportation charges, but bill the Clearance Entry Fee to another party?
- If you accept the FedEx Ground Brokerage-Inclusive service, the Clearance Entry Fee must be paid by the party that pays for the related-transportation charges. If you would like to pay for the transportation charges and have the Clearance Entry Fee billed to another party, then you will need to designate your own broker to make these arrangements.
If you already have a designated broker, then simply include your broker’s details by selecting “Broker Select” on your FedEx Ship Manager electronic shipping solution after entering the service and package details. In this scenario, there will be no Clearance Entry Fee payable to FedEx.
If you do not have a designated broker, you can drop off your FedEx International Ground™ shipment at a FedEx World Service Center or FedEx Authorized ShipCentre® location – the staff will help you process your shipment. You may also contact FedEx Trade Networks Customer Service at 1.800.249.2953 to open a separate broker account for your FedEx International Ground shipments.
