The Government of Canada is Phasing out the Penny
The Government of Canada is phasing out the penny from Canada's coinage system beginning February 4, 2013. The penny will continue to be legal tender like all other Canadian coins and it will retain its value indefinitely. As such, when the exact change is available, FedEx will continue to accept and settle cash payments using the penny.
Effective immediately, when the exact change is not available, FedEx will begin rounding cash transactions in a fair, consistent and transparent manner as stipulated by the Government of Canada. Cash transactions will be rounded, either up or down, to the nearest five-cent increment. The rounding will be applied to the total amount charged after the calculation of any applicable duties or taxes such as the Goods and Services Tax (GST) and Harmonized Sales Tax (HST).

Please note that payments made using non-cash methods such as cheques and electronic transactions
