You can file a claim by mail or fax, or save time by submitting it online. When you file online, you can request to receive periodic e-mail updates on the status of your claim. Plus, we'll use information from your shipping record to pre-populate portions of your claim form. (The online option is currently available for FedEx Express and FedEx Ground US shipments only, excluding FedEx Ground C.O.D. claims)

How do I file a claim?

Follow the three easy steps listed below to file your claim.

Step 1:  Choose one of the following options:
  • Complete and submit a claim form online.
  • Call customer service at 1.800.GoFedEx 1.800.463.3339 to obtain a control number for your claim, then complete a print copy of the claim form.
 Step 2: Gather the following documentation:
  • Photocopy of FedEx Airbill or FedEx® Ship Manager printout and/or FedEx Ground Pick-up Record.
  • All documentation related to the proof of value (e.g., copy of original invoice from vendor/supplier, copy of retail invoice/receipt, final confirmation screen if online order with proof of payment, itemized repair invoice or statement of non-repair, appraisals, expense statement, or any other applicable documentation).
  • Serial number(s) of merchandise.
 Step 3: Fax or mail your supporting documentation and completed claim form to:

How do I file an international claim?

Claims on international shipments that originated from the U.S. can be filed online. If you want to file claims on international shipments that originated from outside of the U.S. (except Canada), please contact International Customer Service at 1.800.247.4747 for assistance with international rules and regulations.

What service can I submit a claim for?

You can use FedEx Claims Online to submit claims for FedEx Express, FedEx Ground or FedEx Freight U.S. international and U.S. import shipments.

How long will the claim-resolution process take?

Most cases will typically be resolved five to seven days after we receive your claim form and additional claim documentation, unless additional time for research is needed.

Who can file a claim?

The sender, the recipient, or a third-party can file the claim.

When should I file my claim for FedEx Express U.S. packages?

Concealed loss and damage claims must be filed within 60 calendar days of the delivery date. Nondelivery or misdelivery claims must be filed within 9 months of the shipment date.

When should I file my claim for FedEx Express international packages?

Concealed loss and damage claims must be filed within 21 calendar days of the delivery date. Nondelivery or misdelivery claims must be filed within 9 months of the shipment date.

When should I file my claim for FedEx Ground?

Concealed loss and damaged packages must be reported within 60 calendar days from the delivery date. Call 1.800.GoFedEx 1.800.463.3339 and request a damaged call tag. Claims can be filed up to nine months from the delivery date. Please see below for information on filing a FedEx Ground C.O.D. claim.

What should I do with the shipment packaging?

Keep all original packaging, including cartons and contents, until the claim resolution process is finished. It may be necessary to make the packaging available to FedEx for inspection.

Who can receive claim settlements?
