With your door tag number, you can track a package in a number of ways:

  • Track through the app by downloading the FedEx® Mobile App and scanning the barcode on your door tag. You will get specific information about your missed shipment and your available delivery options.
  • Track online with our convenient tracking tool
  • Track through text by texting follow and your door tag number to 48773 (ex. follow DT999999999999)
  • If you need more help, call 1.800.GoFedEx 1.800.463.3339 and say “track my package,” then follow the prompts

When a delivery requires a signature, but no one is home, or if the driver determines the package cannot be left at your home, then the driver will leave you a door tag. A package may need a signature, required by the sender, in order to be delivered:

Indirect Signature: There are three ways we can obtain this signature. From someone at the delivery address, from a building manager or a neighbor, or by the recipient signing the door tag authorizing the delivery without anyone present.

Direct Signature: A signature from someone at the delivery address only. If no one is at the address, we may reattempt delivery.

Adult Signature: A signature needed from someone at least 21 years old (holding government-issued photo ID) at the delivery address. If there’s no one eligible, we may reattempt delivery.

You can help avoid missed deliveries and take more control of your packages with FedEx Delivery Manager®. This tool allows you to easily track packages and request when and where your packages are delivered. 

For eligible signature-required deliveries, you can sign for your incoming package in advance using FedEx Delivery Manager or the FedEx Mobile app

If a delivery requires a signature and you are not home, we may deliver your package to a nearby Walgreens store, FedEx Office or other FedEx location. You can stop by the location listed on your door tag to pick up your package on your schedule, as early as the same day.
