Door Tag

A door tag is a notification left at your shipping address if you are not home to receive a package. The door tag number is associated with your package's original tracking number and gives you easy steps to locate your package.

Sometimes we will leave a door tag because you’re not home and the delivery requires your signature. Also, in some cases, if the driver can’t find a secure space to leave your package, they will leave a door tag. Learn more about signature requirements.

On the door tag, you will find all the information you need to locate your package. The door tag number at the bottom is associated with your FedEx tracking number and will be needed to track your package and locate it, through any of the options below:

  • Through the app by downloading the FedEx®Mobile app and scanning the barcode on your door tag. You will get specific information about your missed shipment and your available delivery options.

  • Track Online with our convenient tracking tool.

  • Via text by texting follow and your door tag number to 48773 (ex: follow DT999999999999).

  • If you need more help, call 1.800.GoFedEx 1.800.463.3339 and say “track my package,” then follow the prompts.

On the back of your door tag, you may also have the option to fill out a form and leave it with your signature, authorizing a next-business-day for redelivery.

You can help avoid missed deliveries and take more control of your packages with FedEx Delivery Manager®. This tool allows you to easily track packages and manage delivery options. You can also provide delivery instructions, receive delivery notifications, sign for a package electronically, request to redirect a package to a convenient location near you like Walgreens, select Dollar General stores or FedEx Office locations, sign for packages remotely and request vacation holds, among other useful features.

If a delivery requires a signature and you are not home, we may deliver your package to a nearby Walgreens store, FedEx Office or other FedEx location. You can stop by the location listed on your door tag to pick up your package on your schedule, as early as the same day.

Avoid missing a future delivery with these convenient tools.
