Prepare Your FedEx Shipment
Proper packaging and labeling are required to help ensure that your mail will arrive at the Mail Center on time and in good condition. Below are the requirements for shipping internationally via FedEx International MailService®. Packing your FedEx Shipment
Your FedEx shipment can be packed in FedEx International MailService® bags or boxes, or you can use your own packaging. FedEx International MailService® packaging is available at no cost to you See FedEx International MailService® supplies for more information.
Sorting Your Mail
As a FedEx International MailService® customer, you do not need to sort your mail. Sorting is done by FedEx at the FedEx Mail Center.
Addressing Your FedEx Shipment
A FedEx International MailService® Air Waybill is required on all shipments. You can order preprinted FedEx International MailService® Air Waybills on fedEx.com or call 1.888.339.6245.
In addition, to ensure proper transport of your shipment to the FedEx International MailService® center, please apply a FedEx International MailService® Sticker to all of your non FedEx packaging or skids.
Recipient field on the Air Waybill
The recipient of your FedEx International MailService® shipment will be the FedEx International MailService® center assigned to you when your MailService® account is established. If you do not have the address for your mail center, please contact your FedEx Account Executive.
FedEx Declared Value for Carriage and Declared Value for Customs Limits
Non-dutiable shipments
Customs and carriage value limits are placed at NCV, (no commercial value) for non-dutiable shipments. You can declare up to US$150 in carriage value on non-dutiable shipments.
Dutiable Shipments
- The customs value for dutiable shipments is commensurate with the actual total value of the items in the shipments up to US$50,000 per shipment
- The declared customs value per item cannot exceed US$150 unless otherwise stated in a customized agreement between FedEx and the customer
- Items up to US$400 can be accepted if approved and agreed to in advance by FedEx
FedEx Weight Restrictions
- The maximum allowable weight per item is 50 lbs
- The minimum billable weight per Air Waybill is 3.3 lbs
- The maximum weight limit per FedEx International MailService® bag or box is 50 lbs
- There is no maximum limit on the allowed weight per Air Waybill
FedEx Size Restrictions
The maximum sizes acceptable for FedEx mail are as follows:
Letters and Flats and Boxes
- The maximum length or width of any side is 23 1/4 inches
- The total area (length + width + height) must not exceed 35 1/8 inches

Cylinders and Rolls
- The maximum length is 35 1/8 inches
- The length + 2X the diameter must not exceed 40 5/8 inches
- The length, width, or height of any one side must not exceed 18-1/8 inches
