Richmond Recap:

Denny Hamlin led the final 85 laps to claim his third victory of the season in Saturday night's NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at his home track of Richmond International Raceway, leading 189 of 407 laps in the #11 FedEx Ground Toyota in the final regular-season race of the year, cementing his spot in the 16-driver Chase for the Sprint Cup championship playoff. Hamlin lined up as the leader for the overtime two-lap dash and held off a hard-charging Kyle Larson to the checkers. Prior to the final caution that sent the race to overtime, Hamlin was forced to deal with a host of challengers over the last 85 laps after a red flag, and a flurry of cautions threatened to spoil the FedEx team's chance at victory. The win marks Hamlin's eighth consecutive top-10 finish, a career-best streak for the 35-year-old driver.

Chicagoland Preview:

The race at Chicagoland Speedway this weekend represents the first three-race elimination segment of the 2016 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. Hamlin will be in the Chase for the 10th time in his 11th full season driving the #11 machine and returns as the reigning champion, as he captured the checkered flag for his first career victory at Chicagoland last season.

Hamlin Conversation (Chicago)

How much momentum does Saturday's win at Richmond give this FedEx Team as you start the Chase at Chicago?

"Momentum is key in this business, and we have a lot of confidence right now, but we still have goals to accomplish this year and the win just makes us hungrier to get more. We have shown a lot of speed over the last few months and our FedEx team has a nice stretch of top-10's and wins to back up that speed. The whole Joe Gibbs Racing organization has been fast and we're pushing each other to be better. It will be great to get back to Chicago this weekend where we started off the Chase last year with a win."

LAXR Along for the Ride at Chicago:

On September 18, 2016, LAXR, the AGFS Regional Sort Operation at the Los Angeles International Airport and winner of the Circle of Excellence Award for three consecutive quarters, will ride along with Denny Hamlin and the #11 racecar in the Chase for the Sprint Cup at Chicagoland Speedway. The 1,119 LAXR employees are every day champions who proudly serve our customers and their community. Most recently, the ramp launched the newest Orbis Flying Eye Hospital, a modified MD-10 donated by FedEx. FedEx aircraft maintenance crews were involved in the transformation of the new Flying Eye Hospital and ramp teams assisted in the loading and unloading of supplies.
