Exports of Controlled Items
You must use the FedEx International Controlled Export service option with FedEx International Priority service to export items covered by a U.S. State Department license and other shipments requiring additional documentation processing or governmental “sign-off” prior to export. Such shipments include those covered by a U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration export permit, drawback, temporary import bond or certificate of registration.
FedEx provides International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) shipment handling processes that align with ITAR regulations. In order for us to properly handle your ITAR shipments, you must identify them by selecting the appropriate check box under the special service option available on your electronic shipping platform. When processing ITAR shipments:
• U.S.-origin and Puerto Rico-origin customers must choose the ITAR (Exempt) or FedEx International Controlled Export service options.
• Non-U.S.-origin and non-Puerto Rico-origin customers must choose the ITAR (Controlled) service option.
This functionality is not available with paper air waybills. Process all ITAR-controlled commodity shipments using FedEx International Priority or FedEx International Priority® Freight services.
