Strang began his tenure with FedEx Ground in 1988 as an operations coordinator and rapidly ascended in the operations organization through a series of station and hub management positions before becoming a director in 1998. Three years later, he helped launch the company’s first residential service, FedEx Home Delivery®, while also leading the Western region operations.

In 2004, his leadership and experience supporting what was then a budding phenomenon called e-commerce made him the ideal choice as president and CEO of FedEx SmartPost®, a subsidiary of FedEx Ground that focused on residential delivery of lightweight parcels using the United States Postal Service for final-mile delivery.

Strang was named to his current position in 2011. Since that time, FedEx Ground has experienced significant growth, requiring strategic and substantial investment in operational capacity enhancements. Under his leadership, FedEx Ground has maximized its operational efficiency through innovation and automation, further strengthening the infrastructure needed to meet the dynamic needs of the rapidly growing e-commerce market.

A native of the Midwest, Strang earned his bachelor’s degree in his home state at the University of Iowa and his MBA from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota. He participated in the Duquesne University Palumbo-Donahue School of Business Executive Leadership program and spent several years serving as a board member with the Association for Postal Commerce and the Parcel Shippers Association.
